Oversees the preparation of proposals, negotiations, and the administration of contracts that follow company policies and legal requirements. Has deep knowledge of the contract life cycle, types of contracts, and applicable government regulations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prior-Authorization Specialist
1. Plans and directs prior authorization processes, patient insurance, and monitors all aspects of insurance authorizations for accurate and complete processing of authorizations to include follow-up on pended cases, as well as denials.
2. Reviews samples of prior authorizations of team members to ensure accuracy.
3. Develops or upkeeps communication with providers regarding authorizations.
4. Monitors reimbursement of selected procedures with coder to verify claims are getting paid.
5. Distributes authorization changes to team timely.
6. Ability to work well with others; be a positive example and motivating personality within the clinic.
7. Conduct regular meetings with all staff. Serves on hospital wide committees as assigned.
8. Oversee clinic training/education

Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of two years healthcare experience in billing, accounting or information systems.
Equipment/Technology: Must be able to use Microsoft Office, Word and Excel, required EMR, and any additional portals for prior authorizations.
Language/Communication: Must have the sensitivity, maturity, and ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Mathematical Skills: General mathematics.
Mental Capabilities: Can concentrate for long periods of time in order to complete assigned tasks with a better than average attention span in order to listen, read and remember verbal and written instructions.
Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others.
Performance: Full-time position requiring some weekends and holidays.
