The Keough School of Global Affairs seeks an
Assistant Director, Administration and Internal Engagement to develop and implement a wide range of personnel initiatives at the School. The Keough School currently has over 90 staff working in the Dean's Office and its nine Institutes and Centers. The Assistant Director supports the development of consistent, efficient, effective and inclusive staffing structures, community building, recognition and professional development processes across the School. The Assistant Director ensures that all Keough School human resource and administrative policies and guidelines are implemented and aligned with University and Keough School expectations.The Assistant Director works closely with the Director of Administration and Finance, the Human Resource Consultant and the Senior Director for People and Culture assigned to the Keough School to develop policies and guidelines and provide school-wide support on matters related to human resource, immigration, and internal communications. The Assistant Director implements hiring, onboarding, and performance management processes for the Dean's Office, advises Institutes and Centers that do not have dedicated staff focusing on human resources on personnel issues, creates and maintains internal communication channels that encourage collaboration among Keough School units, and promotes an open and inclusive culture among its staff and faculty. The Assistant Director is highly effective in working collaboratively with faculty and staff colleagues and fostering effective supervisor/supervisee relationships, and has significant experience in internal communication, and an interest and appreciation for a workforce culture that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion.
Human Resource Processes
- In collaboration with the Director for Administration and Finance and the Human Resources Consultant for the Keough School, implement the full employee lifecycle for the Dean's Office, from creating draft position descriptions to providing support to the recruitment and selection process and hiring, on-boarding, promoting, developing, and separating;
- Ensure Keough School personnel policies and guidelines are implemented and updated;
- Working closely with Institutes and Centers, ensure equity and consistency across the Keough School in all human resource-related matters, including preparing and reviewing job descriptions, encouraging calibration of performance evaluation, and proposing staff salaries and wages;
- Advise institutes and Centers and the Director of Administration and Finance on staffing needs and opportunities;
- Facilitate on-boarding/welcome of new Keough School Dean's Office staff.
Communication and Engagement
- Plan and implement Keough School professional development opportunities, in collaboration with Institutes and Centers;
- In collaboration with the Communications team and the relevant colleagues in the Institutes and Centers, plan and implement internal communication at the Keough School (e.g. maintenance of the Keough School's internal website, Concourse);
- Plan and implement community building activities, in collaboration with the Institutes and Centers (e.g. Staff recognition, bi-annual gatherings, end of year celebration, community service, staff retreat, etc.).
Administration
- Oversee all immigration needs for regular and non-regular faculty appointed by Dean's Office and staff;
- Serve as liaison for University requests related to personnel and immigration from Human Resources and General Counsel;
- Oversee administrative on-boarding of new faculty;
- Other administrative tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and 5 years of relevant experience. Strong knowledge of human resource processes, including but not limited to recruiting, hiring, on-boarding, performance evaluation, salary setting, professional development, disciplinary action and separation. The position requires a high level of reliability with regards to accuracy, timeliness, and the handling of confidential information. Excellent communication skills, including experience in creating and implementing internal communication plans. A people-centered and service disposition and commitment.

- Prior managerial or supervisory experience.
- First-hand experience with promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in an organization, and knowledge about immigration processes.
