    The Department of Criminal Justice Services is seeking a collaborative and innovative team player to serve in a full-time position as the Director of Grants Administration in Richmond, Virginia. This position helps to ensure that more than 1500 sub grants annually totaling $400M in state and federal grant funding is awarded to support and maintain local and state criminal justice programs and agencies throughout Virginia.

    What you will do:
    ● The Director of Grants Administration manages all aspects of the agency’s grant-making responsibilities, including: applying for grants, management and oversight of grant funding, sub-granting of funds, grant reconciliation and reporting on the federal and state grant programs the agency is awarded. This position, part of the agencies Division of Finance and Administration, supports a core aspect of DCJS’s mission and is integral to the criminal justice system in local and state agencies.



    Minimum Qualifications

    What the ideal candidate must possess:
    ● Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures to administer state and federal grants in compliance with all applicable funding agency and sub-grant requirements.
    ● Experience working with and responding to: grantees, local officials, state officials, auditors, and agency staff as it relates to the administrative, programmatic, and fiscal requirements of grant programs and sub-grants.
    ● Excellent customer service skills and expect the same from staff.
    ● Experience managing required grant financial and programmatic reporting to funding agency.
    ● Experience managing staff responsible for administering grants from application to approval to implementation to monitoring to closeout.
    ● Experience working with state agency senior staff, program managers, agency fiscal/budget staff to carrying out grant administration responsibilities.
    ● Considerable experience in state government and government operations as it relates to the administration of grant programs and grant funding.
    ● Experience with state and federal grant audits.
    ● Ability to coordinate and lead teams to achieve specific outcomes.     
    ● Ability to think strategically and cross culturally, and independently implement new initiatives and projects.
    ● Ability to articulate, both orally and in written form, clear and concise program objectives and goals and summarize achievements of programs in reports and other documents as requested.     
    ● Documented experience working as an active, contributing team member, as well as an independent and self-motivated employee.
    ● Demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines, handle multiple assignments, changing priorities, and ensure timeliness and quality of completed assignments.
