Contracts Administration Manager prepares and administers bids, proposals, and commercial and government contracts that follow company policies and legal requirements. Manages the contracts administration staff and guides compliance with complex contractual and regulatory requirements. Being a Contracts Administration Manager negotiates with suppliers, partners, or customers. Ensures contracts are administered and monitored to maintain compliance with the terms of agreements. Additionally, Contracts Administration Manager has a strong understanding of the contract life cycle, types of contracts, and applicable government regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Sometimes requires certification like the NCMA Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM). Typically reports to a director. The Contracts Administration Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Contracts Administration Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Duties & Responsibilities

    • Manage a team to ensure that all incoming contracts/agreements are processed in a timely manner
    • Reviews, processes and negotiates terms and conditions with sponsors
    • Coordinate negotiations with sponsors and internal stakeholders
    • Works with the Office of General Counsel, Tech Launch Arizona (TLA), Risk Management, Export Control Office, Procurement and Contracting Services (PACS), and other university compliance or administrative offices, as needed
    • Advise campus on roles and responsibilities on managing incoming contracts and agreements
    • Provide training and training resources to the campus community
    • Maintain current working knowledge of federal regulations, academic contracting practices and sponsor policies
    • Sets a tone of leadership that is customer service oriented, collaborative in nature and focused on information/data based decision-making
    • Develops personal and professional credibility, gains respect, and builds confidence throughout organization
    • Builds a management culture based on teamwork, open communicating, prudent risk-taking, innovation, mentoring and accountability
    • Supervises, hires, trains, and evaluates assigned staff. Works with employees to correct deficiencies, recommends and implements corrective action and discipline
    • Assesses current business practices and takes necessary steps to ensure adequate internal controls exist at all times
    • Additional duties may be assigned

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    • Knowledge of and expertise in negotiating issues in federal, academic, or business contracting in an academic/research/technical environment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, along with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse constituency.
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of contract legal terms related to intellectual property, confidentiality, liability, publication, etc.
    • Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to work within tight and conflicting deadlines.
    • Demonstrated ability to be detail oriented and exercise sound judgment.
    • Demonstrated ability to think quickly and effectively in verbal negotiations to seek and affect successfully creative resolutions to contract issues
