Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Construction Laborer to join our team here at Choctaw Rails Construction Company, Inc. As a Construction Laborer, you will assist with various tasks on railroad and road/bridge repair construction sites, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and to high-quality standards. This is a physically demanding role that requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. All applicants must have a drivers license and be able to pass a drug test per MDOT requirments.
Duties:
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of railroad construction sites
- Load and unload materials and equipment
- Operate hand, power tools, and railroad construction equipment as directed
- Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact soil
- Assist with the installation of railroad construction components such as crossties, switch ties, switch stands etc.
- Perform general maintenance and repairs on railroad construction equipment
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in construction or a related field is preferred but not required
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools. Basic knowledge and experience with construction equipment preferred
- Ability to work well in a team environment, have a positive attitude and take instruction from superiors
- Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities
