Position Title: Facility Management: Assistant Director of Contracts & Construction

Responsibilities:
Summary/Objective
The Assistant Director of Contracts & Construction shall be responsible for providing support to the Facility Management Department as well as be the responsible party for all coordination of Facility Renovation or New Construction projects within the Buildings on Main Campus, Cade Seed Farm, Ecology center, and Research Park. This position will directly supervise other Project Managers, as well as collaborate with the Assistant Director of Maintenance and Repairs position within the Facility Management department. This position is a key member of the upper management tier for the department and is expected to closely work with the department’s leadership and various Assistant Directors, Managers, Assistant Managers, and Supervisors. This position shall report directly to the Director of Facility Management.

This position’s work shall include daily oversight, direction, and leadership for the Construction phase of projects occurring within any Buildings on Campus. This positions shall be responsible for all project coordination between administration, Faculty, Staff and various university personnel as well as collaborating with the Facility Management’s Design Team, the Assistant Director of Maintenance and Repairs, the Assistant Director of Athletic Facilities, and/or the NIRC manager of physical facilities, and supporting their efforts where possible. This position will also be responsible for building collaborative relationships with various university personnel and departments to promote efficiency, accountability, and productivity as it relates to ongoing construction projects along with any new proposed projects.
This position shall also oversee construction and non-construction related contracts (grounds, custodial, etc.) and be responsible for holding contractors accountable for the language and scope of work in these contracts.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position will directly supervise Various Project Managers within the Facility Management department.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, minimum 40 hours per week.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Construction/Contract Management, OR a minimum of 5 years construction/contract management experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience in Management or Supervisory role within a Higher Educational facility.
Ability to read, interpret, and help develop plans and specifications for renovation or remodel projects.
Applicant should be familiar with the State procurement policies and bid procedures.
Confident and ambitious individual with a positive and upbeat attitude
Self-motivator who can work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
Analytical and detail oriented while working in a timely manner
Qualifications:
Applicant should have a working knowledge of all aspects of general construction from working with designers, scope development, budget analysis, value engineering, and construction time frames, all the way to project completion.
Applicant should have previous experience with construction projects within a University of Higher Education
Applicant should be capable of consulting with various senior level University employees as it relates to coordinating construction work on campus buildings.
Applicant shall possess good communication and task management skills. This individual shall be a self-starter who is capable of multi-tasking, prioritizing, and handling a high stress environment
