    Job Summary : The position is responsible for the recording, reporting, and maintenance of all accounting records for ADS in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The position assists in evaluating and forecasting ADS financial progress and condition. This position will be expected to work closely with the Treasurer, and with other Ministry Leaders in broader areas of financial planning and management.
    ADS provides accounting and financial services for Lindenwood, Moontree and Beef and Grain Farm. The position directs the activity of personnel engaged in accounting services for these entities and works closely with the Treasurer to ensure that agreed upon goals are met. ADS provides accounting, financial, and other administrative services for the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ. The other services includes PHJC individual tax returns, payroll related information, Medicare enrollment, Social Security Enrollment, patrimony and other personal financial related tracking.
    • Provide financial counsel and advice to the Treasurer.
    • Provide financial counsel and advice to the BOD for STH and LH
    • Establish and oversee the implementation of sound financial procedures, policies and programs for the financial function, including accounting, control, treasury, record maintenance, performance measurement and communication with the outside financial community.
    • Must have an understanding and commitment to the philosophy and mission of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
    • Plan educational programs in the area of financial management for ADS finance staff.
    • Serve as a value-added resource to affiliates of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ helping them to develop further insight into financial activities that will help them accomplish their mission in their local community.
    • Provide, and expand as appropriate, centralized expertise and programs such as those currently provided in cash management, Medicare / SSN and tax return preparation.
    • Provide timely and accurate financial reports which include up-to-date information to assist the Treasurer and Board in analyzing ADS’s financial position and operating trends.
    • Develop an appropriate organizational structure and retain finance staff capable of meeting the objectives of the finance function for PHJC Finance.
    • Manage all treasury activities, including the maintenance of effective banking relationships, cash management and administration of the investment program. Provide support to affiliates of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in these areas, as requested.
    • Serve as Assistant Secretary of Ancilla. Ensure that all filings are current and complete.
    • Work with the Treasurer and other members of the senior management team to resolve issues relating to previously-owned hospitals.
    • Serve as needed or requested by the Treasurer as participant or liaison to corporate, community, or Board committees. Board assignments currently include:
    • St. Joseph Medical Center of Fort Wayne, Inc. – serve as Office in order to manage banking needs.
    • Sojourner Truth House, Inc. (liaison)
    • Retirement Committee
    • PHJC CST – staff – financial statements and minutes
    • PHJC Pooled Investment – staff – financial accounting and minutes
    • ADS Finance Committee – staff – financial statements and minutes
    • Work with the Treasurer, ADS Ministry Leaders and other members of the ADS senior management team to monitor revenues and expenditures and search for ways to appropriately reduce operating costs, enhance revenues and improve ADS bottom line.
    • Coordinate the review of financial records by external auditors and entities. Prepare annual consolidated (ADS, STH, Foundation, and LH) audited financial statements for review by the external auditors.

    • Traveling may be required to perform assigned tasks; ability to operate a motor vehicle; valid driver’s license and auto insurance required

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s in business with a CPA certificate is desirable.
    • Significant experience in senior financial management is desirable.

    • Proficient skills in word processing, database entry, spreadsheets, and accounting software are required.
    • Proficient skills in e-mail and Internet are required.

    • Ability to present information one-on-one and in small groups effectively.
    • Ability to work well with others as a member of a team.
    • Ability to relate to others on a continuous basis
    • Position requires excellent reasoning, math and language skills as well as written and verbal communication skills.
    • Position requires the ability to make occasional independent judgments.
    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
    • Inside environmental conditions.
    • Much computer work which involves sitting 90% of the time.
    • Can become stressful at times due to deadlines.
    • Position requires continuous sitting as well as occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, crouching and kneeling.
    • Position requires occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
    • Position requires good visual acuity.
    • Ability to relate to others on a continuous basis is required.
    • Ability to work closely with the Sisters’.
    • Must possess excellent reasoning, math and language skills as well as written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to make independent judgments.
