Job Description:
The Tecumseh State Correctional Institution, Tecumseh, NE (a maximum, medium and minimum custody facility), is accepting applications for the position of Corrections Lieutenant. DUTIES
REQUIREMENTS: Post-high school coursework/training in Criminal Justice or related Behavioral field and three years of progressively responsible corrections experience. Experience or coursework/training in supervision and leadership. Must be able to legally possess firearms and ammunition.
PREFERRED: One year of staff supervisory experience. Experience using KRONOS, or other electronic timekeeping system, in a supervisory capacity. Experience working for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.
OTHER: Must have valid driver's license. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
Must be able to work all three shifts to include weekends and holidays. Successful applicant must: 1) be a positive role model; 2) be able to manage and lead staff; 3) promote teamwork, cooperation and collaboration throughout the facility and create a positive work environment; 4) be able to effectively communicate; 5) be able to effectively manage conflict and make decisions; 6) be dependable; and 7) have a demonstrated understanding of the responsibilities of this position.
