General Responsibilities
The STEAM Program Coordinator will serve as the leader of STEAM enrichment opportunities: planning and connecting students to enrichment opportunities in addition to supporting students as they go through and beyond college successfully. This position will seek, develop, and coordinate STEAM education opportunities to create access for students and to develop the academic and SEL skills needed to thrive before and after graduation. This position is responsible for program operations, with an eye to both the broader outcomes of successful college attendance and attunement to the coordination of staff to achieve short term goals to create access and opportunity for college bound OpenDoors students through the grades. The STEAM Coordinator will be expected to work independently and collaboratively with staff and volunteers, and report directly to the To & Through College Director.
Work Duties
Create and build on existing STEAM programming for OpenDoors students K-12
Create in-house tutoring and STEAM clubs to synthesize the curriculum and ensure it aligns with NC Educational Standards.
Plan, coordinate, and oversee STEAM enrichment opportunities throughout the academic year to empower students to enhance social-emotional readiness and academic success, and build competitive college applications.
Collaborate with the To & Through College Director to create access and build relationships with partners, community organizations, and schools
Increase OpenDoors’ capacity to provide academic support and enrichment
Create enrichment programming that is responsive to student needs and interests
Build relationships with families and students through communication about programming and transportation. This process will include emails, text messages, and phone calls.

Participate in weekly transportation program meetings
Identify professional development opportunities to further continuing education and professional goals, participate in professional development, and share your growth with colleagues

Administrative
Adhere to OpenDoors administrative and recordkeeping policies and procedures to support organization. For transportation, this means keeping a travel log to record who is being transported and for mileage reimbursement.
Review and contribute to transportation schedule every week at transportation meeting and immediate alert Jordan and Cory, as well as the Transportation Department supervisor of any conflicts or concerns
Actively provide feedback and other information pertaining to transportation and other programs you support from students and their families, program partners, and any other information relevant to OpenDoors’ mission
Direct Service
Communicate with families about program offerings and logistics
Develop a positive working relationship with parents/guardians through proactive and strengths-based communication
Model and maintain effective health and safety practices to create an inclusive and supportive learning community
Track and communicate observations about students' needs, self-advocacy, progress and overall well-being
Support students with driving hours as needed
Support colleagues as needed in achieving the best possible outcomes for students
