Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Director of Programs, the Program Coordinator will spearhead the execution of The Zero Suicide Initiative by creating partnerships with stakeholders, community members, nonprofit agencies, school districts, and the public to provide unbiased, non-commercial, evidence-based information about The Zero Suicide Initiative, enhancing knowledge of Zero Suicide key indicators. The Program Coordinator will complete reports as required by the funder(s). The Program Coordinator will generate creative ideas to spread awareness about The Zero Suicide Initiative including planning events to gather feedback from key stakeholders in the community. The Program Coordinator is responsible for maintaining accurate data regarding specific goals, grant requirements, and other reporting as needed. The Program Coordinator is responsible for supervising Program Specialists. This position is a combination of field, in-office, and home-office meetings.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a team to develop and proactively execute business plans for various project objectives.
- Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss issues related to the program.
- Supervise employees working on the Zero Suicide Initiative Team.
- Develop goals that focus on initial program development and ongoing program growth.
- Research available data and develop additional tools to be used for front-line education of behavioral and mental health practitioners.
- Design and create an ongoing database of mental and behavioral health agencies, nonprofit organizations, community members, and general businesses to target for this initiative.
- Identify and prioritize populations with higher rates of suicide for extra education and support.
- Investigate and develop new avenues for providing program information.
- Develop scripts and talking points to utilize for various phases of contact with providers.
- Develop a path to finding community “champions” who will support the efforts of educating the community about the need for suicide prevention training.
- Compile information for status updates to leadership.
- Completes program and financial reports for funders as needed per the grant contract.
- Communicates budget spending and financial updates to the leadership team.
- Directly interact with clinicians, law enforcement, teachers, professors, parents, and other community members to achieve program goals via face-to-face meetings.
- Maintain a contact log of initial contacts, follow-ups, office visits, and outcomes to be shared regularly in supervisory meetings.
- Host public educational events.
- Lead and host in-person QPR and QPRT training.
- Offer training materials on an on-demand platform.
- Provide information for and access to program staff to ensure ongoing contact as needed.
- Expedite and escalate complaints and problems and obtain satisfactory and timely resolution.
- Improve contact volume through direct actions with all stakeholders.
- Present innovative solutions and key benefits to community partners.
- Uphold the highest ethical standards and comply with all government policies and regulations.
- Create evaluation methods to assess programmatic gains identify areas for improvement and adjust as needed.
- Continuously review and improve educational materials, if necessary, based on information learned in the field.
- Utilize the person-centered approach to empower people with the knowledge needed to reduce suicide deaths.
- Maintain an understanding of mental health industry commercial benchmarks and metrics.
- Utilize technology to demonstrate educational materials and respond to community concerns/needs.
- Utilize effective communication via phone, email, fax, and Webex, to deliver the values of the project.
- Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, marketing tools, territory data, and reports to successfully reach and achieve targeted goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience /Qualifications:
- Master’s degree, (preferably in social work, mental health, or human services-related field) or equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.
- A minimum of two years of experience in mental health and/or behavioral health.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and a willingness to drive.
- Able to work extended hours, including early morning, evening, and weekends, as required.
- Applicants who are currently in recovery from past substance use issues must be successfully rehabilitated and no longer engaging in the use of illegal substances to be eligible for this position. Hanley Foundation requires applicants in recovery to have had at least one year of uninterrupted sobriety to meet this eligibility standard.
Physical Requirements:
With or without reasonable accommodation, employees in this position must be able to sit for prolonged periods at a desk working on a computer, stand for varied periods, and perform tasks that require fine dexterity and repetitive motions using the arms, hands, wrists, and fingers, and occasionally walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
