Primary responsibilities are donor female management, and record keeping for the broader Beef Genetic Nucleus program, working closely with the ABS Global Beef Product Development team.
The c ompensation for this role will start from $24.00 to $26.00 hourly and will be determined by the candidate's experience.
The position will be based at the donor and bull performance testing facility in
Pardeeville, WI .
Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Maintain defined welfare, biosecurity, and hygiene practices for all ABS cattle on site.
Reproductive management of Donor herd, to include :
Administration and coordination of donor synchronization and superovulation protocolCoordination of embryo production with ET service veterinarianCoordination of local embryo transfers embryo transfersDonor breedingOversight of donor nutritional and health programs
Record keeping of animal ID, synchronization, heat detection, medical care, animal movements, pregnancy status and calving dates are to be maintained and accurate at all times, for all ABS animals.
To ensure high standards of livestock health and hygiene are maintained for all ABS cattle, all team members are expected to perform the following duties : Daily observation of cattleFeeding, bedding, facility hygiene and manure removal
as needed
to support farm staffLow stress handing of, and a proper attitude toward animals at all timesProper administration of all health and welfare related SOPAccommodation of bi-annual animal welfare audits
Requirements : Bachelors or Associates degree in Animal Science or related field, or significant relevant experience in lieu of degree3 years or more
of cattle experience gained through industry and / or farming experienceBasic cattle reproduction knowledgeProficiency in Artificial Insemination is strongly desiredPreferred candidates will have a proven track record of cattle husbandryGood computer skills with specific knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and herd management softwareDetail orientedAbility to work effectively within a team environmentPossess a valid drivers license
