Physician’s Weekly (PW) is seeking a full-time Assistant Copy Editor, ideally as a hybrid role based out of our Basking Ridge, NJ office. This is an exciting, new, full-time position in a dynamic department.

The Assistant Copy Editor will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:

· Play a key role in PW’s newly launched digital printing process Assist the copyeditor in copyediting all PW’s print and digital editorial content across 20 medical specialties, including:

o Feature healthcare articles (ranging from 300-600 words)

o Physician-authored columns/blogs for both print and digital lengths

o Polls and surveys.

o Email newsletters.

o Patient education materials (average of 250 words).

· Assist the copyeditor in the proofreading process of all print materials, looking for formatting, spacing, layout, and other issues. Enter text corrections and note design/layout issues.

· Assist the copyeditor on PW style guide maintenance and updates.

· Assist the copyeditor on copyediting marketing and other outbound materials across PW.

Requirements

· 3 years copyediting experience for both print and digital (healthcare/medical experience strongly preferred), with a proven track record of proficiency and excellence.

· Adept in WordPress and MS Office Suite, as well as experience with Adobe Acrobat. InDesign experience is a plus.

· Familiarity with AP style a plus, with ability to adapt to house style.

· Ability to use available resources (eg, copies of original studies, credible online sources [eg, CDC, NIH, medical journals]) to fact check data, statistics, names, etc.

· Adept at working with dispersed teams using a variety of tools (PW uses Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, DropBox, and Zoom to name a few).

· Must be a self-starter with excellent time-management skills, attention to detail, and comfort with meeting simultaneous deadlines that sometimes have less-than-optimal timelines.

· Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

· Be a team player.

· Be someone who takes pride in their work.

· Undergraduate degree in Communications, English, Media Studies, and/or related fields.

· Note: an editing test will be part of the interviewing process.
