The Digital Navigator provides individualized or small group support on technology to College and Career Readiness staff and students. The ideal candidate has knowledge of online instructional platforms, hands on experience with a variety of computer components and can coach staff with technical issues. Technical support will be provided by different methods including voice telephone, email, text, video chat, and other communication that work.
This is a grant funded position that will end on 06/30/2025.
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of an Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Business, Computers or related area.
- Microsoft Office proficiency in Excel or other data management related experience.
- Willingness to work primarily from an offsite center or campus.
- At least two years’ experience with online learning.
- Understanding of and commitment to the unique mission and vision of Forsyth Tech.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Online Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Business Management, or related field.
- At least two years’ experience in Online Education.
- Working knowledge of ADVANSYS, Colleague or any other ERP software management system.
- Experience with Online Adult Learning modalities.
- Experience in using data to make programmatic improvements that increase student completion goals.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish.
Essential Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Complete Digital Navigator Training and provide digital navigator services to students in Forsyth and Stokes County.
- Understand the practices, procedures, rules and regulations of the Division and the College as they pertain to this position.
- Function as the liaison providing training to individuals or small groups regarding connectivity services information, devices, and foundational digital skills.
- Provide digital skills training assistance for students and help them find resources within the community.
- Manage and provide oversight of the Digital Navigator Project at Forsyth Tech working closely with the Director of College and Career Readiness.
- Provide updates and information to the designated co-lead community college.
- Ability to compile, organize, prepare, and maintain and submit a variety of reports, data and related information to this project along with any supporting documentation.
- Work with marketing to promote Digital Navigator Certification courses to the public and digital literacy awareness and resources to students.
- Submit financial information as required by the project.
- Travel as needed.
- Be willing to work both day/evening and some weekends.
- Participate in meetings with the NCCCS College, co-lead colleges and NCDIT as required.
- Has ability to use technology to effectively accomplish tasks. Has demonstrated proficiency in Blackboard, Moodle or other LMS, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, eLearning tools, multimedia tools and video/audio editing.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Able to address faculty, staff, and student concerns and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external partners.
- Lead, manage, champion, and support the continued innovation, quality, and integrity of Forsyth Techs’ Digital Literacy initiatives.
- Determine, develop, conduct, and revise relevant instructional technology training and opportunities for faculty, staff, and students in face-to-face, online and blended formats.
- Maintain a solid understanding of online course management and delivery software as well as other related instructional technologies to provide appropriate technical oversight and assistance.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
