    Digital Content Manager
     
    The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts is seeking a full-time Digital Content Manager (DCM) to implement our digital content strategy around programming and media for the KIA.
     
    The ideal candidate will be a passionate and effective storyteller, detail-oriented, have excellent writing and editing skills, creative flair, and a keen understanding for application of current social media trends. 
     
    This position will be devoted to client and member services, fundraising and marketing for the KIA including the Kirk Newman Art School.  This role will be integral to the development of digital content across the KIA, including but not limited to educational materials, program videos, virtual tours and promotional needs for overall marketing and social media content.  The DCM will drive the ideation, execution, and delivery of strategic digital content across the brands digital ecosystem, including:  .org, FB, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and other new and emerging relevant platforms.  A strong level of technical competency is required.

The KIA is a private non-profit organization which has, since 1924, presented opportunities to the community and visitors from around the world to enjoy and create art. The KIA holds more than 5,000 fine artworks in its permanent collection; presents touring and collection exhibitions in 10 galleries; offers four terms of art classes at the Kirk Newman Art School across various disciplines; and houses the KIA Gallery Shop, featuring artwork by local artists and international artisans.
    This year, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts (KIA), a leading nonprofit art museum and school, will begin its Centennial celebration with various exhibitions, events, and programs to commemorate its 100th anniversary. 
     
    What You’ll Do
     
    The Digital Content manager, who is preferably based in Kalamazoo County and reports to the Director of Advancement, is responsible for the following:
     
    ●      Help to build the KIA brand identity and online presence through the creation and dissemination of multimedia content maintaining a “consistent voice” at the KIA
    ●      Produce and coordinate videos, photoshoots, graphics, and other multimedia content that is fresh, compelling and inspires core audiences to engage in our patron journey
    ●      Produce and maintain a content calendar in collaboration with various departments
    ●      Work closely with cross functional departments/teams to design, create and produce successful, creative social media campaigns, as well as digital media campaigns, that markets digital content around our programming overall ensuring all deliverables and deadlines are met, within budget
    ●      Website - maintain pages to include new products and product descriptions working through web content management systems to track changes in content, manage links, identify & update general data and program content
    ●      Oversee quarterly Sightlines publication and weekly newsletter
    ●      An additional collaboration will exist to perform specialized activities in public relations, developing and evaluating budgetary strategies for new features for the website and other digital content to offer relevant user-friendly content maximizing outreach and engagement
    ●      Ensure that IDEA - Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility are represented in our digital content and materials
    ●      Manage and keep relevant external community portals/calendars with digital images and content
    ●      Search out and initiate opportunities for all non-paid/paid digital marketing stories and promotions
    ●      Design and create dynamic digital content and print collaboration using the latest in film, editing and design software
    ●      Provide impact reports weekly, monthly and annually
    ●      Stay current with industry/advertising/cultural trends
    ●      Collaborate effectively with designers, copywriters, consumer engagement and product marketing teams to craft brand and content strategy

    ●      Digital Storytelling: You have the ability to tell a compelling story with great writing skills, attention to design elements, including collaboration, visual communication, marketing, and technology.
    ●      Editing: You have the ability to review written materials and make improvements ensuring materials are clear, well-organized, suitable for their intended audiences, accurate and free from grammatical errors.
    ●      Knowledge of and Commitment to IDEA principles and practices: You have an understanding of structural inequalities, recognizes race, gender, other identities, intersectionality, knowledge of how to build trust with individuals who are different from yourself, is driven to improve conditions, and proactively learns re: race, equity, and identity
    ●      Results-orientation: You have a track record of achievement and producing results

    The position is full-time and is based in Kalamazoo County. The role may require attendance at community events, extended workdays and periodic irregular work hours. You will work in a well-lit, pleasant, smoke-free office. Physical requirements include: frequently standing, walking, and handling; and reach with hands and arms.  You will give regular group presentations and speak on behalf of the museum. The salary for this position ranges from $50,000 - $55,000, with exact salary depending on experience. The KIA offers compensation and a benefits package that includes medical, dental, life insurance, long-term and short-term disability, and retirement program with employer contribution, paid time off including annual vacation, sick and personal leave, some 12 museum holidays, 2 floating holidays, and discounts in the Museum’s Gallery Shop.
