Implements risk-based compliance testing of existing procedures and controls to identify, detect, and correct noncompliance.   • Job Purpose

    The role of the Corporate Compliance Officer at Relias Healthcare encompasses providing guidance and assistance to ensure the seamless operation of corporate compliance functions, with a focus on Human Resources and overall corporate compliance. This includes overseeing compliance in key areas such as HIPAA, coding and billing, information technology, and more and employment practices. The ideal candidate for this position should have a robust background in compliance and contract management, exceptional administrative abilities, and a dedication to upholding the utmost standards of quality and efficiency within the organization.

    Duties and responsibilities

    People

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal legal inquiries and liaison with Relias’s legal counsel, Gilchrist-Donnell.
    • Coordinate offer letters, contract drafts for approval, and agreements with providers and external entities within the standard timeframe guideliens established by Relias Healthcare.
    • Eatablish and maintain compliance programs across the enterprise for areas of risk across the organization.
    • Provide training, tracking, and education to providers and corporate office staff related to compliance and risk management, including topics such as fraud and abuse, coding requirements, claims submission process, marketing practices, HIPAA, EMTALA, and other related areas.
    • Foster communication and cooperation among internal stakeholders.
    • Assist with coordinating with legal counsel on creating and managing an internal visa sponsorship for J1 Visa providers.
    • Maintain an open and positive working relationship with senior leadership, providers, employees, and facility partners.
    • Oversee our human resource guidance for employee interactions and corrective actions.

    Innovation

    • Further develop, update, and maintain the Corporate Compliance program, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations surround coding and billing, revenue cycle, employment practice compliance, malpractice, and insurance programs.
    • Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
    • Stay informed about industry best practices and share knowledge with relevant stakeholders.
    • Establish a record-keeping system designated to document the ongoing operation of the Corporate Compliance Plan.
    • Development of a protected internal patient safety pathway to allow for internal peer review.

    Quality

    • Report to designated manager (or employee hotline) any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices.
    • Monitor employment interviews on occasion to ensure DOL compliance and Relias guidelines are followed.
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness of the compliance plan and address any deficiencies quickly and thoroughly.
    • Conduct periodic audits for our various compliance programs (HIPPA, Coding/Billing, Employment) to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and reports findings to the Corporate Quality Committee (?), Board of Trustees, and others on a need-to-know basis.
    • Responsible for investigating and assuring resolution of compliance/ethics-related issues, as well as formalizing and expanding the compliance program.

    • Oversee the handling of day-to-day provider contracting, offer letters, employment commitments, and other agreements.
    • Review all Relias contracts (new and renewed) for compliance issues.
    • Support company growth through working with the development team on facility contracts.
    • Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date database of new and existing contracts and agreements.
    • Assist with day-to-day entity structure guidance and finance/revenue cycle entity questions.

    Excellence

    • Stay abreast of relevant regulations, policies, and standards related to compliance and contract management.
    • Sit in on RH Herald Event monitoring meetings to evaluate compliance risks.
    • Provide support in onboarding and offboarding providers.
    • Coordinate Red Flag reporting for etihical violations reporting through legal counsel.
    • Instills strong compliance ethics throughout the organization.
    • Ensures that the organization’s CEO is kept informed of all non-compliance/unethical issues.

    Qualifications

    • Juris Doctorate or Paralegal Degree is strongly encouraged orBachelor's degree in a relevant field or 5 years of experience in a healthcare/legal field.
    • Willingness to work towards Compliance certification (if not already obtained)
    • Proven experience in compliance, contract management, human resources, or another related field.
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to develop and deliver presentations and written material for a variety of audiences and multiple venues.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
    • Effective customer relations skills and ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
