Corporate Construction Manager oversees construction projects and operations to meet the organization's financial and growth objectives and fulfill client contractual requirements. Follows established quality, performance, and safety standards and procedures for operations. Being a Corporate Construction Manager reviews and approves procurement of required material, equipment, subcontractors, and worker resources. Provides project updates and communicates with clients, contractors, governmental or regulatory officials, and other stakeholders. Additionally, Corporate Construction Manager builds effective team capacity to plan and implement construction projects. Ensures all permits, licenses, or certifications required by regulatory authorities are obtained. Establishes and enforces safety protocols and procedures to provide safe job sites and minimize risk. Monitors costs and timelines and submits required progress reports to deliver projects on time and within budget. Implements best practice construction methods to improve efficiency, productivity, and project outcomes. Requires a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field. Typically reports to senior management. The Corporate Construction Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Corporate Construction Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Key Responsibilities:

    • Build and manage the green certification process.
    • Accountable for collecting, modeling, and presenting data on the energy performance of buildings and the National Green Building Standard (NGBS) process.
    • Identify and maintain awareness of current and emerging technologies, tools, and methods as they impact the delivery of third-party certified green building designs.
    • Work with project engineers and design teams to establish sustainable design and project certification goals.
    • Maintain scorecard for multifamily buildings compliant with requirements of ICC/ASHRAE 700 National Green Building Standard (NGBS).
    • Manage field verification and testing services at active construction sites.
    • Perform site visits to review and fill out pre-functional checklists and witness functional performance testing.
    • Oversee Indoor Air Quality Testing, Envelope Enclosure testing (Blower Door), Duct Tightness testing, Airflow, and Pressure testing, and photometric testing as it relates to energy and green building codes.
    • Review and verify systems and archive documents for Green Building Compliance.
    • Assist in providing on-site inspections and verification of project compliance for energy and green building codes and above-code programs.
    • Assist in scheduling and compiling data from Energy Code Inspections for city and local jurisdictions.
    • Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders to communicate the field observed inspected and non-compliant items related to green building and energy code compliance.
    • Ensure quality assurance, control, and consistency, sharing best practices across projects.
    • Provide executive updates at project milestones, including managing and archiving routine reports and specifications data.

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Must possess green building credentials or be able to become certified in a variety of code and above-code certifications, including (but not limited to) Home Energy Rating Systems (HERS) Rater, NGBS Verifier, ENERGY STAR, Building Commissioning Professional, and International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) Inspector.
    • Familiar with energy and building sciences.
    • Excellent communication and writing skills
    • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
    • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products.
    • Ability to read, understand, and manage construction plan documentation.
    • You must demonstrate proficiency in the use and application of project management technology tools and continually seek opportunities to develop your skill set.
    • Most importantly, you'll be a self-starter who thrives on autonomy, takes initiative, and has the drive to contribute to a diverse, supportive, and talented team.


    Qualifications:

    • A combination of 3-5 years of education or progressive professional experience in leading, green-certified projects or construction management is required.
    • Fluency in English and Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) is desired.
    • Familiarity with building energy systems and equipment.
    • Experience conducting field inspections and data collection related to Green Building Compliance
    • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans
    • Current certifications in ENERGY STAR, NGBS, HERS, and IECC are a plus
    • Regular travel is required - up to 50% travel to project construction sites. Travel M-F is typical.
    • Clean driving record, drug-free, and valid driver’s license.
