    The Team You’ll Work With...

    As our hands-on Corporate Controller you’ll be leading our three person Aromas, CA-based Accounting team and report directly to our CEO. You will be part of our team that produces the world’s most beautiful tile and sells it directly to our residential and commercial clients. You’ll also partner with our accounting firm (Withum) as well as other strategic partners and financial institutions who impact a variety of parts of our organization. Because you will be so integral to the success of our company, you’ll work closely with our Leadership team as well as all departments while supporting our 310 Teammates in Aromas, Spokane (WA) as well as throughout the U.S..

    You will work out of our Aromas, CA location with travel to our Spokane, WA factory and other locations in the US as needed (travel is 5-10% of the time). In this role you will report to the CEO. The pay range for this position is between $130,000-$170,000 dependent on experience, plus a discretionary bonus and stock options.

    The Problems You’ll Solve...

    In this role you will be working to ensure Fireclay is exceptional when it comes to accounting organization, compliance, and strategic support. You will leverage your 10 years of experience implementing best practices and ensuring GAAP compliance while conducting an ongoing analysis of key business drivers, trends, and performance indicators. Fireclay today consists of our corporate entity, Fireclay Tile, Inc., and our real estate subsidiary, Ganas LLC, and over time we suspect that structures will become more complex through more structured finance opportunities or M&A.

    We will rely on your expertise to oversee our full-cycle accounting processes, including the preparation, analysis, and presentation of monthly and quarterly financial reports. As our business continues to grow and profit, your involvement will be crucial in navigating property, payroll, sales, and corporate tax complexities. You will also be instrumental in identifying potential incentives, such as R&D credits. The increasing importance of adhering to local, state, and federal government reporting mandates and tax filings cannot be overstated, and we trust you to collaborate seamlessly with our CPA firm in these domains. Furthermore, as we continue to make significant investments in our operations, your role in managing cash balances, forecasting cash flows, and overseeing capital expenditure budgets will be paramount. Your experience preparing financial reporting for financial partners, lenders, and Boards of Directors will be valuable as we aim to double our business over the next 2-3 years.

    You will also partner with our People team to manage payroll and, if possible, review insurance, contracts, and equity documents. With our growth, accounting controls, and compliance intensify; we'll lean on you to continue supporting our audit and tax preparation responsibilities. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing financial systems, streamlining workflows, managing special reports, acting as a controller for our factories, and handling annual budgeting. Additionally, you'll spearhead various projects and initiatives integral to our team's success.

    About You...

    You have experience as a Corporate Controller in a growth company with deep experience in manufacturing environments with an interest in the consumer/retail space. You want to apply your knowledge and talent to a hyper-growth focused company looking to build a first-in-class stakeholder-centric organization. You flourish in creative results driven environments and find collaboration key to success.
    • Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience (CPA a plus)
    • Demonstrated knowledge of finance, accounting & control principles (US GAAP)
    • Minimum of 10 years accounting experience, with at least five in a management position (deep experience in manufacturing a plus)
    • Advanced experience in: Tax, Audit, Inventory, Cost Accounting (MFG Production KPI’s)
    • Significant experience coordinating audit activities, and managing internal & external financial reporting as well as preparing consolidated financials from multiple entities
    • Building and leading accounting functions and infrastructure in a highly entrepreneurial, rapidly growing environment
    • Must know QuickBooks Enterprise and Salesforce; proven ability to work with cloud-based CRM.
    • Knowledge of these systems a plus: Paycor, Asana, Google Apps, Slack, Expensify, and more
    • Deep experience and a love for leading, coaching, and developing your team members.
    • You excel at project management and communicate effectively. You set clear expectations, provide the necessary guidance, and ensure that everyone knows their roles and meets their deadlines.
    • You are highly organized with methodical process improvement strategies and a conviction that there is always room for improvement, but that following the established process each and every time is critical to a high performing accounting department.
