Corporate Giving Manager identifies and assesses the causes and organizations that align with the company's values and goals and develops strategic plans to support them. Establishes and maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations and community leaders to ensure effective collaboration and support of giving initiatives. Being a Corporate Giving Manager manages the budget for charitable giving, evaluates grant proposals, and monitors the impact of the company's charitable contributions. Develops and launches employee volunteer programs to engage employees, offer participation to wider audience, and raise awareness about the organization's charitable initiatives. Additionally, Corporate Giving Manager maintains current knowledge of best practices in corporate giving and philanthropy. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Corporate Giving Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager.     Summary :

    The director of planned giving is responsible for developing and overseeing a comprehensive planned giving program for Northern Light Health Foundation and creating planned giving strategies for its member organizations. This position is responsible for the development and monitoring of Northern Light Health planned giving policies, marketing efforts, and fundraising strategies to enhance and grow the philanthropic base of planned gifts to support each Northern Light Health member organization.

    The director meets with donors, attorneys, trustees, and financial advisors to discuss opportunities to support Northern Light Health and its members through deferred or planned giving vehicles. The position requires a background and knowledge of bequests, annual trusts, unitrusts, giving through retirement plans, and other pertinent future giving options. The position involves a full range of donor cultivation duties, including working with Foundation staff to develop planned giving as a critical component of a strategic fundraising plan. The position requires work with the lead philanthropy staff for each Northern Light Health member organization as part of a team to diversify funding resources and engage in long-term financial planning, including creation of endowment and other permanent financial resources and works with donors to secure major and planned gift support.

    Responsibilities :

    • Research, identify, engage, and solicit donors and prospects to secure planned gifts for Northern Light Health and its member organizations.
    • Work with philanthropy leads for each Northern Light Health member organization to develop a targeted planned giving plan for each member organization.
    • Promote charitable gift annuity, endowment, bequest and other planned gift options to benefit Northern Light Health and its member organizations.
    • Develop and execute strategic and creative planned giving communications including articles, presentations, brochures and other marketing and educational materials to market planned gifts to donors in collaboration with the marketing and communications staff.
    • Establish and provide oversight for the Northern Light Health Foundation planned giving council and other recognition opportunities.
    • Manage a portfolio of major and planned gift donors and prospects.
    • Design and implement individual giving strategies, engage donors and prospects through written proposals, personal contacts, and visits.
    • Work within a key performance indicator environment to achieve quantifiable goals based on mutually agreed upon targets of irrevocable and revocable gifts while documenting prospect and donor actions and contacts through the Foundation’s prospect management system.
    • Identify and participate in planned giving speaking engagements and opportunities throughout the state.
    • Provide regular internal educational planned giving presentations to Foundation staff and volunteers on planned gift options.
    • Work closely with professional advisors regarding charitable estate planning to educate about the work of Northern Light Health and its member organizations, and charitable gift options to enhance their clients’ financial and estate plans.
    • Participate in continuing education to maintain current knowledge on changes in tax laws and other emerging issues in the planned giving field.
    • Maintain active participation in planned giving and philanthropy professional associations at state and national level.

    Other Information :

    • Specialized training in financial and/or estate planning, tax law, and philanthropy.
    • Philanthropy-based experience in an integrated healthcare system highly desired.
    • Knowledge of planned giving vehicles, current trends in philanthropy, donor advised funds and basic estate and financial planning for individuals, including tax implications of charitable giving.
    • A strong work ethic coupled with an enthusiastic and passionate approach to the care Northern Light Health provides throughout Maine.
    • The ability to communicate effectively with physicians, other medical executives, and hospital leadership.
    • Achievement oriented, a team player, and a successful team builder.
    • Capable of developing and implementing clear goals, systems, and priorities.
    • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and skilled at developing relationships both internally and externally with various constituencies.
    • Public relations and marketing experience is a plus.
    • Thorough knowledge of and substantial experience with leadership, capital campaigns, and planned giving.
    • Able to deal effectively with people and inspire others to perform at a high level of efficiency and productivity.
    • Knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge/NXT preferred.
    • Proficiency in PG Calc, Crescendo, or similar planned giving software preferred.
    • Proficiency with computerized information management in the fundraising setting.
    • Possess strong oral, written, and organization skills, self-directed with ability to meet deadlines.
    • Flexible work schedule to include weekends, evenings and select holidays, as needed.
    • A preference shall be given to those with strong ties to Maine.
    • Membership in the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, National Association of Charitable Gift Planners, and/or Maine Planned Giving Council preferred.
    • CFRE credential preferred.

    • 5 years minimum of demonstrated fundraising experience in planned giving with increasing levels of responsibility.
