Corporate Giving Manager identifies and assesses the causes and organizations that align with the company's values and goals and develops strategic plans to support them. Establishes and maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations and community leaders to ensure effective collaboration and support of giving initiatives. Being a Corporate Giving Manager manages the budget for charitable giving, evaluates grant proposals, and monitors the impact of the company's charitable contributions. Develops and launches employee volunteer programs to engage employees, offer participation to wider audience, and raise awareness about the organization's charitable initiatives. Additionally, Corporate Giving Manager maintains current knowledge of best practices in corporate giving and philanthropy. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Corporate Giving Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Corporate Giving Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • The Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans (SACNAS) is the largest multicultural and multidisciplinary STEM diversity organization in the countrySACNAS is an inclusive organization dedicated to fostering the success of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans, from college students to professionals, in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership. SACNAS serves approximately 10,000 members, 144 student, and professional chapters, and reaches a larger community of supporters of 25,000. SACNAS seeks an experienced fundraising professional who is a strategic thinker, results-oriented, innovative, adaptable and has a highly collaborative and engaging approach with staff, members, and external partners. 

    The Manager, Giving, will manage the organization's annual giving campaign. The Manager will be responsible for overall strategy and execution, long-range planning, donor relations, and data management to support the implementation of fundraising strategies that advance SACNAS. The Manager, Giving, will be responsible for fostering strategic relationships with funders that lead to direct funding support. As a member of the External Affairs department, the Manager, Giving will be a key partner in cultivating a culture of giving. This is a full-time, exempt position that is virtual and reports to the Senior Director, External Affairs. 

     

    THE JOB 

    Duties and Responsibilities  

    Fund Development 

    • Assist in the development and execution of an annual Operations Plan to establish and achieve the overall annual giving fundraising goals.  

    • Execute a strategic plan maximizing annual giving campaigns from various audiences, including members, prospects, donors, and partners. 

    • Cultivate and prospect opportunities to partner with new donors.  

    • Utilize state-of-the-art annual giving techniques and analytics to maximize efficiencies and results.   

    • Implement all aspects of the annual giving communication plan, including segmented written, electronic, and verbal messaging and related collateral material. 

    • Develop and maintain stewardship strategies for annual giving programs.  

    • Create and maintain a formal process to recognize donors.   

    • Proactively identify changing fundraising landscapes and strategies to adapt development efforts with agility.   

    • Support the grant development process in partnership with the Manager, Grants. 

    • Maintain all appropriate and necessary project and fundraising documentation files. 

    • Represent the organization in engagement and outreach efforts. 

    • Other duties as assigned. 

    Data Management 

    • Manage the donor-giving platform 

    • Establish and manage a donor database ensuring accurate and up-to-date donor-related information. 

    Research and Analysis 

    • Conduct research and identify prospective donor opportunities.  

    • Analyze data to prepare regular progress reports evaluating the effectiveness of strategies and identifying areas for improving donor giving.   

    Marketing 

    • Partner with Marketing and Communications to generate cohesive, effective, and strategic messaging, direct mail, digital, social, face-to-face, and volunteer solicitation strategies. 

    • Work closely with cross-departmental teams to develop marketing collateral, content, and information that persuasively convey the SACNAS vision, mission, and story. 

     

    CRITICAL SKILLS, QUALITIES, AND ABILITIES 

    • Experience working with Chicanos/Hispanics, American Indians, or other under-represented minority populations, and familiarity with first-generation or low-income college student populations. 

    • Understanding how annual giving fits into the larger development ecosystem, including stewardship, prospect pipeline and major gift prospects, communications and marketing, and data/research. 

    • Apply initiative, creativity, and sound judgment to appropriate situations. 

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Must be able to present complex subjects clearly and compellingly. 

    • Adept at using persuasive language to promote visionary gift opportunities. 

    • A strong work ethic, a commitment to high performance and teamwork, and a proven ability and desire to reach aggressive goals. 

    • A willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues and with a diverse constituent base. 

    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. 

    • Well-developed computer and office skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook. 

    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. 

    • Exceptional writing, public speaking, and presentation skills.  

    • Ability to succeed and enjoy working in a fast‐paced, highly dynamic environment with a proven skill set utilizing sound judgment, creativity, and effective time management solutions. 

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality around sensitive and complex relationships and projects. 

    • Bilingual in English and Spanish desired. 

     

    Required Education and Experience  

    • Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in Business, Public Administration, Non-profit management, Education, or Science is preferred. 

    • Two to five years of development or related field is required; fundraising/sales experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved. 

    • A background with higher education fundraising experience within the context of a comprehensive campaign is preferred. 

    • Experience with developing and implementing fundraising plans and the cultivation of new donors and partners. 

    • A keen understanding of fundraising and giving strategies, metrics, and best practices, preferably in education, STEM, and diversity.  

    • Demonstrated experience with developing a diverse fundraising portfolio. 

    • Demonstrated experience in identifying, cultivating, and securing funding. 

    • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement new revenue opportunities.  

    • Experienced with Click and Pledge, HubSpot, and Smartsheet. 

     

    Work Location and Travel 

    • Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia location highly desired. 

    • Required travel to the annual conference and Board meetings. 

    • Travel throughout the United States may be necessary to meet with partners. 

    • Occasional work on evenings or weekends.

    Salary & Benefits  

    • Salary Range: $78,834 - $105,500 

    • Health Insurance - SACNAS covers 90% of medical insurance monthly premiums for employees and 85% of medical insurance monthly premiums for dependents. 

    • Dental/Vision Insurance is fully paid by SACNAS 

    • Life Insurance fully covered by SACNAS Voluntary Life/AD&D

    • 401(k) Retirement Plan with 5% match 

    • 17 Paid Holidays 

    • Paid Time Off (PTO) - tiered PTO accrual rate dependent on seniority or time with the organization.   

    •          0-2 years: 4.61 hours – 15 days 

    •          3-8 years: 6.15 hours – 20 days 

    •           9 years: 7.69 hours – 25 days

    The salary range outlined above represents the organization’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
