    Special Information: Missoula Correctional Services is a non-profit corporation formed to provide alternative correctional programs in the Missoula community. The Missoula Pre-Release Center is one of these programs. The position requires a current State of Montana driver’s license. Mental demands are paramount due to the intensity of the workload and the emotional demands of residents. Physical demands include the ability to restrain inmates in crisis situations, ability to observe and hear inmates, and adequate strength to lift 50 pounds. Therefore, the Case Manager needs to be in good physical condition and mobile. The Center is a 24-hour facility. Meal breaks are optional and will be explained during the interview process. This position is considered essential, and you will be considered an essential employee. As such, you will be required to report to work or continue to work during the COVID-19 pandemic and any shelter in place directives issued by the Governor or the Missoula City-County Health Department.

    Position #1 -Tuesday through Saturday, Times to be determined

    Position #2 -Sunday through Thursday, Times to be determined

    ** This position requires shared on call responsibilities so flexibility in work hours is required.

    Program Description: The Missoula Pre-Release Center serves 94 adult male and 23 female inmates who have been committed to the Montana State Prison or the Department of Corrections and subsequently transferred to the Center. The Center provides housing, food services, case management, supervision, life skills training and referral services for all residents. The primary emphasis of the program is to provide residents with assistance needed for successful reintegration into the community.

    Typical Duties (not all inclusive):

    The Treatment Coordinator I prepares a new Prerelease resident in beginning his transition to the community by conducting an assessment interview with the resident; developing a specific individualized treatment plan; referring a resident to the appropriate community agencies; and completing an initial functionality scale.

    The Treatment Coordinator I monitors an assigned resident’s progress and behavior through discussions with a resident’s employer, teachers, and/or supervisor and with outside counseling agencies. The Treatment Coordinator I instructs residents in learning appropriate communication skills and problem solving methods; instructs and coordinates residents in utilizing sound money management skills; and co-facilitates treatment groups on a weekly basis to residents. The Treatment Coordinator I reviews and approves budget requests, pass requests, and daily schedules of resident movement.

    The Treatment Coordinator I monitors the resident’s progress in obtaining goals outlined in his/her treatment contract and meets weekly with assigned residents to discuss steps necessary to take to reach his/her goals and potential solutions for problems occurring. The Treatment Coordinator I updates the treatment contract on a monthly basis and documents a resident’s performance and behavior through chronological history notes, quarterly reports, and other written requirements.

    The Treatment Coordinator I provides ongoing support to Prerelease residents by providing general counseling to residents of the Prerelease program in areas such as relationship building, career development, educational resources and communication skills; advising residents' family members of resources available to them, and providing general counseling to residents and their families; holding a resident accountable to the Prerelease Center's rules, regulations and his/her treatment contract.

    The Treatment Coordinator I shares on call responsibilities with the Director of Security and other Treatment Coordinators; transports residents to various destinations; and occasionally conducts measures necessary for the security of the facility, such as searches, UAs, head counts, breathalyzer tests, disbursement of medication, residents location checks and staff coverage and purchases supplies as approved.

    The Treatment Coordinator must demonstrate professionalism by maintaining good personal hygiene and good physical conditioning; being consistent in following rules, regulations and policies; being punctual in attendance, working shifts as scheduled, attending staff meetings and training required; completing duties in the time lines specified; being assertive with coworkers, community contacts and supervisor; making decisions based on objective information, considering the needs and safety of both the residents and the community; performing job duties using safe operating procedures; knowing and administering First Aide/CPR procedures as needed; reporting hazards and accidents in the work place; performing other duties/responsibilities as assigned; balancing time in an affective manner, to train, meet with, and provide ongoing training and observation of treatment staff he/she supervises; following directions as given by supervisors; maintaining corporation, agency and resident confidentiality as defined by policy .

    Qualifications: Knowledge of the Missoula community and community resources; Montana's correctional system -- its organization and methods of operating; sentencing terminology; treatment principles in working with an offender population; behavior modification; personnel supervision and organization skills for prioritizing workload and delegating tasks. Must possess typing skills and an introductory level of computer and word processing knowledge and skills. Ability to physically respond in emergency situations, effectively communicate orally and in writing; objectively assess individual needs and attend to the details of monitoring individual programs; operate a motor vehicle; follow written and oral instructions explicitly; make appropriate decisions within the limits of the position's authority, act with initiative, exercise good judgement and model good leadership; maintain effective working relationships with employees, offenders, the public and other agencies; consistently apply rules and regulations and follow agency policies and procedures; and function effectively under stressful conditions.

    Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a related Human Service field of study. The degree must have been earned from a university accredited by a regional accreditation organization recognized by the US Department of Education: Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, New England Association of Schools and Colleges, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, and Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

    Application and Selection Process: Selection procedures to be used in evaluating applicants’ qualifications may include, but are not limited to, an evaluation of the Application form; a structured interview; a written questionnaire; a performance test and reference checks.     1. Signed and completed Application form. Portions of the Application form may be photocopied if legible.

    2. Applicants claiming Handicapped Person’s Employment Preference must provide verification of eligibility with the Application materials. The required documentation includes the SRS Certification of Disability form.

    3. Copy of Bachelor's Degree/college transcripts.

    The successful candidates must pass a thorough criminal background investigation. The applicant must also be found to be insurable via a check with the Montana Motor Vehicle’s Records Department. Upon offer of employment, the candidate will be required to take and pass a physical examination which demonstrates that the applicant is capable of performing the required duties of this position. The successful candidate will be required to obtain a First Aid/CPR card within the first six months of employment, to take a TB test, as well as signing a Non-Dissemination and Non-Solicitation Agreement.

    Compensation: This position’s salary is $48,838.00 annually. Benefits include ten (10) working days of annual leave, sick leave, and ten (10) days of holiday leave per year, employee medical insurance, and a retirement plan.

    Immigration Reform and Control Act: In accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act, if an employee is unable to provide the required document or documents within three days, he or she must at least produce (within three days) a receipt showing that he or she has applied for the document. The employee must produce the document itself within 21 days of the hire. Examples of such documentation include a birth certificate or Social Security card along with a driver’s license or other picture I.D., a U.S. passport or a green card.
