Correctional Officer, Sr. jobs in Modesto, CA

Correctional Officer, Sr. enforces rules and regulations in a prison, jail or other holding facility. Presides over prisoners awaiting trial or those who have been convicted of a crime. Being a Correctional Officer, Sr. oversees prisoner conduct and safety. Supervises prisoners during meals, recreation, work and other daily activities. Additionally, Correctional Officer, Sr. documents violations and takes appropriate disciplinary actions. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Firearms Certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Correctional Officer, Sr. works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     Minimum Qualifications

    AGE
    At least 20 YEARS of age at the time of application and 21 YEARS of age at the time of appointment to the Academy.


    EDUCATION
    Possession of a high school diploma, GED or equivalent from a U.S. institution or a California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE) certificate.

    CITIZENSHIP
    United States citizenship or legal permanent resident.


    BACKGROUND
    As a minimum requirement, a thorough background investigation must be conducted prior to a candidate's appointment or training as a Correctional Peace Officer. Additionally, must have no felony convictions and eligible to own/possess a firearm.
