    The Accounting Officer oversees aspects of the finance department under supervision of the
    Chief Financial Officer.

    Typical Job Duties Responsible for the annual, quarterly, monthly and grant-specific financial cycles

    including payables, receivables, accruals, allocations, grant expenditure approval, and
    financial statement preparation

    • Manage day-to-day financial operations:
    o oversight of bank activity including monthly reconciliations,
    o monitoring accounts payable, leases, loans and other commitments
    o a ccounts, grants and pledges receivable, including reconciliations with
    Development and Programs
    • With the assistance of the bookkeeper, maintain accounting records in accordance with

    generally accepted accounting principles and with the requirements of funders, including
    grant awards, contracts, memos of understanding, loans, leases and other agreements

    • Assist the Chief Financial Officer in preparing the annual organizational budget
    • Manage compliance with organizational budget
    • Support the Contract Analyst with timely and accurate financial information on grant
    expenditures and preparation of budgets for government contracts and grants.
    • Act as primary contact for organizational annual financial audit, including federal single
    audit, and preparation of 990
    • O versee timely federal, state and local tax and informational filing
    • Maintain the accounting system and ensure all funding sources and programs are
    represented and tracked in the accounting system in compliance with each contract.
    • O rganize, analyze, interpret, and report financial data to the Chief Financial Officer.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Employment Standards
    Thorough Knowledge of

    • Accounting principles, practices and procedures, including internal accounting control.
    • M aintaining accurate records and reporting.
    • Coordinating and completing annual audits.
    • Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word.
    Some Knowledge of
    • N on-profit financial reporting
    • G rant and contract budgeting and compliance.
    • Housing Matters specific policies and procedures.
    A bility To D emonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Prioritize work, manage time effectively, multi-task and meet deadlines.
    • Handle sensitive information effectively and confidentially.
    • Represent the agency to persons outside the organization and interact with all staff in a
    professional, courteous, culturally sensitive, and tactful manner.
    • Communicate effectively with the Executive Team and bookkeeper.
    • Pay attention to detail.
    Training and Experience BA/BS required, related advanced degree or professional certification preferred
    • 5 Years’ experience in Accounting
    • Experience with enterprise accounting software preferred

    Hours
    This is a full time, benefited, exempt position. Hybrid in-office schedule preferred, fully remote
    m ay be negotiated. Health Insurance and PTO benefits begin after a 30-day introductory period.
