Inventory Cost Accountant
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Identifies system and user errors, performs in-depth research to determine cause and takes proper steps to resolve issues.
· Interacts with multiple departments resolving issues and supporting processes related to inventory management.
· Acts as a primary liaison with the IT department to perform testing, verification, and issue resolution during development projects related to inventory systems.
· Directly participates in various aspects of the month end close process as it relates to inventory.
· Prepares month end journal entries and account reconciliations.
· Maintain a complete system for Inventory Control that provides consistent, reliable, and timely information to management for decision making that is flexible and dynamic enough to evolve with changing business needs.
· The Inventory Accountant will review Bill of Materials for accuracy.
· Perform duties for month-end close, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations and analysis of results.
· Prepare documentation in accordance with internal control requirements.
· Coordinate cross-functionally with other departments on business objectives.
· Participate in cycle count audits and physical inventories.
· Develop, update and document business processes to maintain and strengthen inventory accounting activity.
· Identify and implement continuous improvements to process and controls in support of the organization; collaborate with other stakeholders in the company to partner and execute on projects and initiatives as needed.
· Provide management with accurate and timely information necessary to make strategic and operating decisions.
· Provide support on ad-hoc requests and special projects.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
· Work with Inventory programs to capture production data for inventory management
Inventory Cost Accountant Qualifications:
· Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance.
· 1-2 years Warehouse/Manufacturing experience
· 2-3 years of accounting/finance experience required
· Proven understanding of an inventory control process in a manufacturing industry
· Demonstrated skills needed to: coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts, investigate cycle count variances, and resolve issues
· Experience using Microsoft Office Suite programs (i.e. Excel, Outlook, Teams).
· CPA or CMA certifications preferred.
· SQL or Power BI reporting experience preferred.
· Flexibility to work occasional overtime as needed.
· Understanding of Inventory, Sales Orders and Purchase Orders
· Quick learner of software applications used in accounting
· Demonstrates a can-do and will do attitude
· ERP system experience preferred
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills
· Attention to detail and willingness to follow-through
· Excellent organizational and communication skills
· Self-starter with a successful record of working independently as well as working closely with team members.
