Cost Accountant jobs in Florence, AL

Performs accounting activities related to the company's plant accounting function including preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank account reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, general ledger reconciliation and internal reporting during monthly close. Supports the development and implementation of accounting policies and interacts with internal and external auditors.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• 5 years accounting experience

• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Attention to detail with high degree of accuracy
• Experience with ERP systems
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP

Essential Functions:

• Perform all accounting duties which include processing invoices and issuing weekly checks.
• Perform all accounts receivable duties which includes posting payments and recording transactions.
• Perform account reconciliations, account analysis, and accrual calculations.
• Assist with internal and external audits.
• Provide reports and financial information for outside accounting firm for federal and state tax compliance.
• Coordinate and participate in physical inventory. Reconcile physical counts and prepare finished goods and material inventory reports.
• Maintain the general ledger to include the preparation of journal entries, reconciliation, setting-up new accounts, and completing month-end and year-end closing of financial records.
• Control and track fixed assets.
• Responsible for the review and payment of all company expense reports.
• Maintain financial records and files.
• Must be able to safely perform tasks in a foundry environment.
• Other duties as assigned by Accounting Manager.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $63,000.00 per year
