Cost Accounting Manager ensures that costs for the company's products and services are allocated according to corporate procedures and in compliance financial accounting standards. Oversees the cost control systems, manages and interprets cost audits, and prepares cost accounting reports for presentation to top management. Being a Cost Accounting Manager gathers historical cost data (materials, labor, depreciation, operating expenses, etc.), to compare budgets with actual expenses. Manages the cost accounting staff to complete projects. Additionally, Cost Accounting Manager requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a Director. The Cost Accounting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met, adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.   • The Accounting Manager will perform a variety of duties in line with the business objectives of Community Action. The manager is also responsible for the oversight of daily accounting operations of the agency. The Manager is also responsible for all agency assets including the including vehicles and buildings. This position will oversee finance specialist(s) and will report to the Finance Director. This is a full time, salaried exempt position.

     

    JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    1. Supervise and train staff; provide adequate support to each staff member, including evaluating staff performance. Conduct routinely scheduled 1-on-1’s.

    2. Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP/AR, donations, payroll, bank reconciliations, purchasing, and adjusting journal entries.

    3. Work with Finance Director to create capital needs assessments (CNAs) and capital budgets for agency facilities. Manage calendar of capital replacements and annual maintenance needed.

    4. Review, approve, post and print checks for all operational accounts payable.

    5. Understand program and agency budget to ensure expenses are charged properly and income is received properly. Make recommendations when transactions need to be moved to other revenue sources.

    6. May assist with Annual A133 audit, W2s, 1099s, budgets and other reporting as directed.

    7. Provide back up support to Finance Director as needed.

    8. Track all assets in compliance with financial policies.

    9. Procurement, disposal, and licensing of agency owned vehicles.

    10. Ensures proper insurance and security is maintained for agency assets.

    11. Act as Primary contact for vendor relations for finance and asset management.

    12. Promote a healthy, transparent, professional, and kind work environment.

    13. Participate in meetings and trainings as needed or required and serves as a member of the agency’s Leadership Team.

    14. Other related duties as assigned by management.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

    Education & Experience 

    • Associates Degree with major coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field preferred.
    • 3 years of finance/accounting experience preferred.
    • Non-profit, governmental, or fund accounting experience preferred.
    • Experience with MIP Accounting software strongly desired.

    Or a combination of education and experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work.

    License(s) & Certification(s)

    • Must have valid driver license and auto liability insurance, if personal vehicle is used for work-related travel.

    • Must be dependable, reliable, and possess a strong ability to adapt to any situation.
    • Keen attention to detail and efficient problem-solving skills.
    • Supervisory skills.
    • Strong organization and time management required, with ability to multi-task.
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
    • Ability to work independently, and as a team member; self-motivated.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with integrated computerized accounting systems, including general ledger and payroll system.
    • Proficient in Microsoft office Suite software applications including Excel, Word, OneNote, and Outlook; additional software applications include Abila/MIP, and ACH.
    • Must have strong and effective communication skills (oral and written).
    • Working knowledge of standard office procedures and technologies (phone, computer, printer, photocopier, scanner, fax machine) is needed.
    • Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with people from varied cultural, socioeconomic, educational and experiential backgrounds.


    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

     

    Starting Wage between: $5,800.30 - $6,400.99 salary per month (DOE)
