Education, Training and Experience: 1. Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration or closely related field is required. CPA is highly desired. 2. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the field of accounting is required. 3. Supervisory experience is required. 4. Governmental accounting work experience is desired; experience in school system setting is desired. 5. Must have experience working with computerized accounting programs. Experience with MUNIS software is highly desired.

Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Supervise accounts payable staff and operations. 2. Maintain thorough knowledge of accounting policies and procedures. 3. Monitor expenditures against approved budget prior to requisitions being converted to purchase order. 4. Notification to schools and departments when requisition or request for payment would result in a budget line item to be exceeded. 5. Assist Budget Manager as necessary to ensure budget is properly uploaded into the financial software. 6. Supervise preparation of all month end payroll reports regarding workers compensation, insurance, teacher’s retirement, ERS, and other monthly payroll distributions, and payroll deductions. 7. Prepare payment of State Merit bill and submit to Executive Director of Accounting for payment. 8. Supervise preparation of Teachers Retirement and Employee’s Retirement System Reports and submit for payment and transmittal to the appropriate agency. 9. Perform month-end and year-end closeouts of books. 10. Run and distribute all month-end budget status reports to schools and departments. 11. Meet with Principals, Directors, and Administrators as required to report on status of budget versus actual expenditures. 12. Monitor and report on all Capital Project expenditures including all ESPLOST and bond accounts. 13. Prepare and remit GDOE CS1 annual report. 14. Keep CFO aware of work status and progress of department. 15. Provide information to Executive Director of Accounting and CFO in the form of regular reports and special reports as requested. 16. Maintain fixed asset records. 17. Prepare reports for auditors as required 18. Keep Executive Director of Accounting aware of cash balances daily. 19. Supervise payroll reporting requirements including, Quarterly Reports and W-2s as well as 1099s. 20. Performs limited duties of Executive Director as needed in Executive Director’s absence.
