Cost Accounting Supervisor jobs in Champaign, IL

Responsible for general ledger reconciliations, accounting transaction audit and accuracy, assists with month end close responsibilities. Insures companies internal control remain in place while protecting the organization’s value by keeping all information confidential. Assists with physical inventory. Maintains certain insurance policies, claim processing and insurance compliance over suppliers and customers. Works directly for the Controller and Supports the CFO.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare reconciliations monthly for general ledger accounts as assigned.
• Prepare standard journal entries monthly.
• Prepare invoices and credit claims as needed.
• Prepare bank deposits and review transactions processed through AR.
• Monitor tool crib and inventory transaction accuracy, run reports and work with the AP department to resolve outstanding receipts.
• Assist in tracking and maintaining COIs for suppliers and submitting customer service claims to insurance.
• Assist with training and back-up of accounting clerical staff members.
• Assists with physical inventory counts.
• Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by being a strong team player.
• Maintains Records and Files as necessary.
• Perform other accounting, financial or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time – quite often on short notice.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides accounting support to all other accounting departments as necessary.
• Assist with Month End and Year End Close processes.
• Look for opportunities to improve processes or procedures while maintaining strong controls.
• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• At least 3 years of accounting experience and bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to work at a computer for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 15-20 pounds occasionally.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires extensive work using a computer. Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to work load.
