Qualifications
Position Summary:
The Cost Analyst provides detailed cost analysis support on Direct Reduction Iron (DRI) industrial plant projects. DRI plant projects can vary in types, sizes, complexities, and level of risks. The Cost Analyst is responsible for entering project budgets into the ERP as well as the detailed analysis and review of cost expenditures vs established budgets throughout the life of a project. The Cost Analyst develops and maintains cost reporting on multiple projects simultaneously. Responsibilities include significant interface with project schedulers, project managers, project engineers, estimators, accounting, engineering staff, as well as other functional organizations including contracts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, procurement, subcontract management, etc.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and Maintain WP (work package) cost control budgets within the ERP system from estimate and maintaining change management.
- Prepare month-end reports, ETC/EAC forecasts, variance reports, spend projections, and cost reconciliations.
- Interface with all functional/stakeholder areas (i.e. Operations, Projects, Engineering, Procurement, Accounting, Sales) with regards to ensuring completion of monthly accrued units/costs, cash flow, commitments, burn rates and other potential project information necessary for a thorough project analysis, monitoring and cost control.
- Interface with all Functional/Stakeholder areas (i.e. Operations, Engineering, Construction, ROW, Strategic Sourcing, Construction Outside Services, Legal, Environmental, Health & Safety) with regards to ensuring completion of monthly accrued costs, cash flow, commitments, burn rates, and other potential project information necessary for thorough project analysis, monitoring and controlInterface with all Functional/Stakeholder areas (i.e. Operations, Engineering, Construction, ROW, Strategic Sourcing, Construction Outside Services, Legal, Environmental, Health & Safety) with regards to ensuring completion of monthly accrued costs, cash flow, commitments, burn rates, and other potential project information necessary for thorough project analysis, monitoring and controlDevelop accurate and timely labor, equipment and expense cost forecasts with the guidance of department leads, PM’s, PE’s and the Project Controls Manager.
- Prepare and report cost analysis trends: CPI’s, SPI’s, risk, earned value, labor/material/expense forecasts, cash flow forecasts, vendor reporting and visual charts for monthly reporting.
- Develop and facilitate project invoicing (to client) process per contractual terms and conditions.
- Advises PM’s on a routine basis related to project specific cash flow performance.
- Assists Estimator and Scheduler from project inception through project closeout.
- Prepare and maintain project risk registers.
Skills/Abilities:
Required:
- Minimum of three (3) years hands-on experience as a Cost Analyst preferably in a large-scale industrial engineering and construction environment
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong skills in MS Excel (Xlookups, Sumif, Pivot Tables, etc.)
- Knowledge of and experience with MS Office Software including proficiency MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.
- Ability to prioritize deliverables and leverage resources (technology, cross-functional collaboration, etc.) to work efficiently
- Knowledge of ERP systems and obtaining actual cost data for projects
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written skills
- Ability to interface with all levels of Project Teams and Senior Management
Preferred:
- Experience in SAP or other ERP system.
- Certification as a PMP, CCP, and/or CEP desired.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Business, Accounting or Computer Science.
Travel REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (less than 5%).
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to move around a project site, including climbing structures.
