Cost Engineer - Construction develops and implements cost control procedures, documents, and tools to support and enhance project budget management. Collects and coordinates procurement and other cost information used to develop cost forecasting, cost control strategies, and project risk analysis. Being a Cost Engineer - Construction performs data analysis to identify project trends and budget deviations and highlight cost underruns and overruns. Has extensive technical knowledge of processes and materials specific to the type of project. Additionally, Cost Engineer - Construction experienced with the cost-estimating methods best suited to the nature of the project. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Cost Engineer - Construction work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. They would be responsible for creating cost targets and supporting engineering / purchasing in achieving benchmark level costs. They will be an active member of the Product Development Team and work closely with Engineering to develop optimized design solutions ensuring best in class cost and function. Main activities: Supplier plant visits (GEMBA) Internal vehicle & commodity benchmarking External vehicle & commodity benchmarking C.O.S.T. --> Optimized Cost of Technical Solution Design to Cost proposals (non-commercial) Quick Capacity Enhancement Supplier Compensation Claims Minor Model Changing Parts List Education: BS degree in Engineering preferred. Other credentials or work experience will be considered. Plus: Master degree (MBA Or Finance) Previous work experience: 3- 5 year experience in Plastic Injection or Stamping or Complex Assemblies (Interior and Exterior Vehicle Parts), estimating experience a plus. Language: Advanced English Skills preferred, TOEIC over 785 points or similar test results (Discussions with USA and Japan will be on place). Computer skills: Strong proficiency in MS Office applications MS Word and Excel. Familiarity with special estimating software or programming skills would be a plus. Competences: Able to quickly analyze, compare and interpret detailed and sometimes limited information and make sound and accurate conclusions. Ability to defend his/her conclusions with detailed evidence and convincing negotiation.
