Ironstone Homes is seeking a principled and industrious individual to join our team as a Cost Estimator and construction assistant. 

We’re looking for a person who is interested in establishing a career within our company; not just holding a temporary job. This position reports to the General Manager of Ironstone Homes. Starting salary will range from $45,000 to $55,000 depending upon your experience, qualifications, and aptitudes. This is a full-time position and provides an excellent benefit package.

Non-Negotiable Skills:

• The Estimator must be familiar with residential worksites, cost structures, and timelines
• The Estimator must be able to extract three dimensional objects from two dimensional concepts, and must understand and be able to communicate how labor, materials, and equipment will be combined and used to construct these objects
• The Estimator must have excellent verbal and communication skills
• The Estimator must be familiar with construction means and methods, materials, project costs, and project schedules
• Any candidate not meeting these skills must be able to demonstrate that they can both develop, and grow into these skills rapidly

Job Position Responsibilities:

• Survey and understand potential worksites and construction documents
• Extract a comprehensive scope of work from construction documents
• Develop a comprehensive scope of work when construction documents do not exist
• Provide clear, detailed, accurate and thorough quantity take-offs
• Assemble and communicate accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals according to our company’s bid schedule
• Complete change order proposals for projects you’re unfamiliar with
• Intelligibly collaborate with others
• Intelligibly discuss project requirements at all project stages from pre-construction through construction with customers, project staff, field personnel, and suppliers
• Understand contractual terms, conditions, and obligations
• Cooperate with and support field personnel

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, architecture, engineering, or related field preferred
• 5 years construction experience preferred, but we’re open to the right candidate with less experience.
• Ability to learn and use spreadsheets and proposals
• Ability to learn and use Builder Trend, Plan Swift, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Project.
• Skills using auto CAD a plus. 
• Working knowledge of mathematics including algebra, geometry and unit conversions
• Spanish speaking and reading a plus.
