Position Summary
Sell merchandise/product related to the plumbing & hvac industry
Essential Functions
· Greet customers and determine what each customer wants or needs.
· Assist outside salespeople with entering orders for specific customers.
· Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers.
· Recommend, select, and obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
· Compute and complete sales in computer system.
· Receive and process cash or credit payments.
· Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise
· Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
· Place special orders or call other stores to find desired items.
· Track special orders and provide updates to customers.
· Handle telephone inquiries and orders from customers.
· Maintain sales counter, warehouse, and yard appearance.
· Quote individual prices and develop job quotes for customers.
· Enter warehouse transfers and purchase orders into computer.
· Process incoming and outgoing inventory on the computer system.
· Unpack and Stock inventory on rocks, shelves, and bins.
· Develop and implement yearly sales action plan for target customer.
· Any additional functions assigned by local Branch Manager or Supervisor
· Perform other duties and assignments as designated by Branch Manager
Skills
· Speaking: Talking to others to convey information effectively.
Knowledge
· Customer Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
· Sales: Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.
Work Environment
· Position is primarily based indoors. However, constant changes in temperature and weather conditions will be experienced from frequent trips to and from the warehouse and outside.
