  • Job Summary:

    The Deli Kitchen/Counter Coordinator ensures proper storage, rotation, stocking, preparation, and displaying of products in accordance with established practices, priorities and recipes. They provide daily leadership to employees and train staff in compliance with WFC policies and practices. This position works with department management to set priorities and pars, and assists the department manager in coordinating department operations to meet goals for sales, margin, labor expense and customer service.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Essential Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensure the provision of services offered in the Deli area and respond promptly and politely to customer requests for assistance.
    • Receive, purchase, process ingredients, rotate, store, and display designated products in accordance with established practices, priorities, and recipes.
    • Follow recipes to measure, process, cook, bake, and assemble ingredients according to department standards.
    • Monitor food quality, record losses, and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies throughout preparation, storage and display.
    • Direct, train and develop designated employees in compliance with established practices, policies and budget restrictions to support day-to-day operations and to achieve department goals.
    • Ensure department accountability for maintaining performance standards, provide daily supervision and leadership to designated employees and follow through promptly on documentation in compliance with WFC policies and practices.
    • Ensure cooperation and coordination within the department to achieve department goals.
    • Wash, sanitize and store cookware, utensils and containers in accordance with established practices and priorities. Maintain work stations and ensure cleanliness of department equipment, storage areas and display areas.
    • Achieve WFC customer service standards for internal and external customers.
    • Contribute to an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment to support WFC's ENDS.

    Essential Organization Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Abide by all WFC policies and procedures.
    • Engage in creating and maintaining a positive, ethical, and productive workplace that contributes to achieving progress on WFC’s ENDS.
    • Follow and ensure compliance with all safety practices and policies.
    • Maintain compliance with all regulatory guidance including but not limited to Minnesota Department of Agriculture and National Organic Standards.
    • Uphold all personnel and operational policies, giving correction to staff and feedback to management as needed.

    Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Achieve daily operational goals as directed by your supervisor.
    • Maintain cleanliness of department areas and equipment and communicate and document any equipment maintenance and/or safety concerns to department management.
    • Report any problems with systems, tools and/or products to department supervisors.
    • Perform other tasks as assigned by department management.
    • Assist customers in finding product and/or information, promptly and courteously answer and accurately route phone calls, messages, and customer requests in compliance with established practices.
    • As directed, move into back stock, rotate, stage, stock and/or merchandise products in accordance with shift criteria.
    • Promote ownership and owner benefits consistently and positively.

    • Experience in retail, grocery, natural foods and/or cooperative business
    • Available to work evenings, weekends, holidays
    • Commercial kitchen or Deli experience
    • Customer service experience

    Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • 18 years of age or older
    • Leadership experience
    • Basic computer literacy including familiarity with using a web browser and email
    • Ability to operate effectively within established systems and procedures
    • Attention to detail and good organizational skills
    • Ability to handle multiple demands, work under time pressures and meet department work objectives
    • Ability to handle confidential information
    • Willingness to learn and perform all aspects of the position
    • Ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing conditions

    Essential Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to occasionally move up to 50 lbs. or more throughout shift
    • Ability to repetitively move objects up to 15 lbs. throughout shift
    • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
    • Ability to move around the premises throughout shift
    • Ability to operate position-required machinery
    • Ability to do repetitive office tasks including, but not limited to, filing, using a computer keyboard, understanding information from a computer screen/LCD monitor and written materials for the entirety of shift
    • Ability to safely use sharp cutting instruments

    Work Environment

    • Handling wet, hot, cold, and/or frozen products
    • Wet and/or humid conditions
    • Change in room temperatures
    • Carts, pallets and hand-trucks moving in and out of storage/retail areas
