EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE NYS OFFICE OF PARKS,

RECREATION AND HISTORIC PRESERVATION ALLEGANY REGION

TITLE/ SALARY PAY RATE: Park and Recreation Aid 1, $15.45/hr

WORK LOCATION: Allegany State Park, Red House Rental Office

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Seasonal appointment, May 2, 2024- September 4, 2024

WORK SCHEDULE: Variable (including weekends, holidays and/or evening shifts)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Allegany State Park Red House Park Manager or their designee and will perform or assist with rental office duties including, but not limited to:

• Representing the agency and park in a positive and friendly manner as the first point of contact with the public, registering campers using the Aspira One Field Manager System (formerly ORMS) and handling camping / cabin / group camp reservations.
• Cash handling and operation of cash registers and credit card terminals, operation of iPhone and/or iPad for Empire Pass sales and validations.
• Answering the telephone and patron questions or directing calls to the appropriate recipient, providing clear and accurate information to all customers, and maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor under demanding conditions.
• May be assigned to toll booths to work collecting vehicle entrance fees at Park entrances in remote locations.

OPERATIONAL NEED:

• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be proficient in the use of computers to facilitate proper use of Field Manager, Department of Environmental Conservation Automated Licensing System, and be able to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and other applicable programs and applications.
• Must be able to continuously maintain a neat and professional appearance and project a positive and welcoming demeanor in the presence of the public.
• Must be available to work a variable schedule, including evenings, holidays and weekends as needed.
• Must be reliable, flexible, and willing to work in a team setting.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $15.45 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
