FAMILY COURT HEARING OFFICER
QUALIFICATIONS
· Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
· Member in good standing of the Louisiana Bar.
· Trained in Family Mediation or agree to become certified in Family Mediation within 12 months.
· Minimum of five years Family Law practice experience.

JOB SUMMARY
The full time Family Court Hearing Officer will carry out the Rules of the 16th Judicial District Court. He/She will serve as full time Hearing Officer for Iberia Parish, and will assist in St. Martin and St. Mary Parishes when needed, and, in that capacity, conduct intake procedures and hearing officer conferences between involved parties and attorneys in all matters concerning divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, spousal support, use and occupancy of the home and of movables, community property, conduct pre-trial conferences for protective orders on rule days, and conduct Support Enforcement proceedings.
HEARING OFFICER DUTIES
Conduct intake and hearing procedures between involved parties and attorneys in all matters concerning divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, spousal support, use and occupancy of the home and of movables, community property, petitions for protective orders, and conduct Support Enforcement proceedings.
Produce documents for Clerk of Court to serve as notice for hearings.
Prepare Consent Judgments and obtain judge’s signature.
Ensure that all orders comply with state law.
Prepare documentation of justification for all orders by agreement which deviate from state law, stating reasons for deviation.
Provide each party with copy of recommendations at the conclusion of hearing when an agreement is not reached and notify each party of the time requirements for filing an objection.
Provide the judge with all hearing documentation and recommendations prior to court proceedings.
Communicate with the judge and clerk to remove from the docket those matters which are resolved during the hearing process.
Work cooperatively with the Clerk of Court to implement procedures to set family court hearings, to serve notice on all parties, and to docket court proceedings.
Maintain case files of each family court case including documentation of all hearing proceedings, hearing and docket notices, intake documents, financial disclosure documents, evaluations, motions and orders, recommendations and objections.
Acquire, develop and maintain case management system to schedule hearings and monitor the family court docket.
Perform related or additional duties as may be required or assigned.
COMPENSATION
Full time position with annual salary DOE and complete benefit package including employee group health and dental insurance, retirement benefits, annual and sick leave.
