General Description:
The purpose of this class within the organization is to perform clerical duties in the City’s Municipal Court. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, supplemented by college-level courses in public relations, communications, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required. Three to five years of administrative work experience in a judicial setting with extensive knowledge of court fines and fees. An equivalent combination of education, training and work experience may be considered.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
NCIC Certification required within one year.
Essential Job Functions:
Receives incoming calls on a four-line phone; assists customers or routes calls to other staff members.
Serves as the first point of contact with general public, assisting with their requests or contacts proper staff.
Collects payments for payments, restitution, and bond and prepares daily deposit.
Prints and enters tickets issued by Rock Hill Police Department or Winthrop Police accurately. Verifies court dates and times are correct.
Submits NRVC reports to the DMV and provides NRVCs to dependents as needed.
Completes warrant withdrawal process.
Prints necessary forms for customers as it pertains to motions to reopen cases.
Provides administrative support for court sessions.
Performs data entry of all new cases coming before the court.
Performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of English, spelling, math, and vocabulary.
Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment, including desktop publishing.
Some knowledge and experience with the basic procedures of the Municipal Court is preferred.
Ability to obtain NCIC certification within three months.
Ability to maintain confidentiality as required.
Ability to accurately receipt monies collected.
Ability to prepare effective correspondence on routine matters and to perform routine office management details without referral to a supervisor.
Ability to use independent judgment in performing routine and non-routine tasks.
Ability to react calmly and quickly in emergency situations.
Ability to maintain office records and to prepare accurate reports.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency situations or tight deadlines.
Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.
Work is performed onsite. The incumbent must be present at work to perform the essential functions of this job.
