A Rig Operator leads a workover rig crew, and is responsible for performing and safely operating well workover components and services.
Operates rig and well servicing equipment
Guides, directs, supervises and assists workover rig crew and contractors adhering to all AWS HSE safety policies and best practices
Performs basic routine maintenance of rig and equipment such as daily equipment inspections, checking and adding oil or other fluids, etc.
Conducts troubleshooting on all related AWS equipment
Drives rig and other commercial vehicles over various types of road conditions and terrain, including highways, rural roads including paved and gravel
Follows and supports all AWS HSE a policies at all times
Conducts job safety analysis and directs crew on job scope for the day
Regularly coaches and trains other crew members on job expectations
Knows and uses appropriate PPE at all times
Maintains all employee-related paperwork, including time sheets, driver logs, trip sheets, etc.
Runs accurate tallies in tubing string and rod stream
Fills in for Floorhand, Derrickhand, etc., as needed
May serve as direct relief and support for Foreman
Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor
One (1) year experience as a rig operator, required
Prior experience as a floorhand and derrickhand, required
Knowledge of downhole conditions and ability to troubleshoot, required
Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment
Possess basic maintenance and mechanical skills to perform rig repairs as needed
Has problem solving and organizational skills
Valid driver license with clean drive record
Class B permit for CDL, preferred
Ability to communicate, read & write in English
Ability to clear/pass pre-employment screening, testing and job-relevant hiring requirements.
Proof of eligibility to work in the United States, as required by law
Able to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on routine basis
Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and color vision
Able to deal with wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat/cold
Work environment may include moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals, airborne particles and moderate to loud noise, requiring consistent use of appropriate PPE
