Creative Director provides leadership and direction for all phases of creative development work from concept to completion. Designs and implements policies and standards that reinforce the organization's branding strategy and goals. Being a Creative Director promotes excellence in design thinking and a creative strategy for services, products and programs. Interprets stakeholder requirements to produce effective creative concepts and designs. Additionally, Creative Director recruits and develops a team of designers, copywriters, project managers and vendors. Develops creative briefs and design concepts to meet the business objectives of the organization. Studies current trends and technologies to adopt the most effective tools and techniques across all media. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Creative Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Creative Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • The Spotlight Creative Director is the counterpart to the Spotlight Editorial Director, teaming up to establish and own the vision of Spotlight reporting experiences throughout the entire process of a project. This starts with client engagement to establish goals for the experience, and continues through creating and iterating over proposals, documenting requirements for the production phase, creating, reviewing and iterating over creative assets and designs in the production phase. Even after production, as client reviews and QA processes take place, the Creative Director continues to serve as a contributor, decision maker, and reviewer on any adjustments and corrections made to the product. The Spotlight Creative Director will be expected to preside over many projects at the same time, working with different team members on different projects, meaning organization and communication is key to the success of the projects. This position is one that will require the management of individual contributors to execute planned work, meaning skills in project management and people management will be key to performing this role successfully. While this role has project management and oversight components, someone in this role will be expected to contribute to the production of project assets, exercising skills in illustration, animation, motion graphics, audio engineering, video editing, and photo editing.
