What You'll Do
ZAGG is actively seeking a talented Associate Creative Director with a profound passion for impactful visual storytelling. As the Associate Creative Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the visual direction across two brands, overseeing the production of photography, video, and motion graphics. Your mission is to ensure that our visual content not only meets ZAGG's high standards of quality but also effectively communicates our brand's message to our consumer groups and retail partners.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Creative Leadership Team and internal stakeholders to develop and produce new visual photo and video assets for marketing across various mediums.
Lead and manage a creative team consisting of video shooters, editors, photographers, and motion graphics artists, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Mentor and assist Art Directors in conceptual thinking, development, presentation, and execution of creative ideas.
Inspire, support, and lead photo art direction across multiple ongoing projects, including seasonal, promotional, social, advertising, web, and brand initiatives.
Curate references, swipes, and inspirations aligned with the brand's visual style guides.
Cultivate strong working relationships with internal business partners and act as the direct point of contact for the photo studio and visual content team.
Represent the company as the brand steward during photo and video shoots.
Attend and lead meetings to present creative concepts and understand project objectives at various stages.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, design, and product, to grasp project requirements and ensure successful asset delivery.
Collaborate with Creative Operations and the Creative Leadership Team to meet asset management needs and adhere to guidelines.
Collaborate with the Creative Director to develop the visual style and update brand guidelines as necessary.
Maintain consistent visual branding across all content, ensuring cohesive visual storytelling.
Stay current with industry best practices, trends, digital platforms, media, techniques, and materials.
Lead and manage teams throughout the video, photography, and motion graphics production process from pre-production to post-production.
Spearhead conceptual development and collaborate with art directors and copywriters to create innovative ideas.
Contribute to the creation of storyboards, scripts, and video concepts.
Develop production proposals, including creative briefs, treatments, mood boards, shot lists, and cost estimates.
Ensure budgets, deadlines, and schedules are complete, accurate, and followed.
Supervise the content production calendar and coordinate schedules for the team.
Plan and manage photo and video shoots, including location scouting, talent selection, and production logistics.
Experiment with shooting techniques, lighting, and retouching to enhance the brand's visual style and storytelling.
Oversee technical aspects such as visual styling, lighting, composition, and blocking for successful execution.
Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools for photo and video editing.
Manage the editing and post-production process, ensuring timely and budget-conscious asset delivery.
Review all photo selects and video rough-cuts, incorporating feedback into the final editing process.
Provide guidance and feedback to the team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Independently shoot photography and video footage for long-form and short-form videos.
Manage set-up and breakdown of sets, props, and equipment before and after each production.
Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies, implementing innovative techniques to enhance visual storytelling.
Supervise the management and tagging of all video footage and photography received during shoots.
Oversee the transcoding of all media from video shoots.
Manage and source music that complements the videos' vibe and feel.
Mentor and coach visual content team members through production processes and performance management.
Review and provide feedback on all videos, photography, and animations.
Represent the video, photography, and motion graphics team in key meetings, collaborating with stakeholders and reporting on task progression.
Build and maintain relationships with internal clients, partner agencies, photographers, and other production vendors/crew.
Conduct monthly and annual improvement reviews with team members.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support the professional growth of team members.
What You'll Need to Be Successful
A portfolio link and resume showcasing your qualifications, including video samples or reels.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant photo art direction experience, with digital and video experience as a necessity.
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, photography, or related fields.
4 years of team management, leadership, and mentorship experience.
6 years of extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite, emphasizing Premiere Pro and After Effects.
Proficiency in relevant software, including Photoshop, Lightroom, Bridge, Premier, and Figma.
Expertise in photography styling, propping, set backgrounds, and surfaces.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork with diverse teams and stakeholders.
A positive attitude and infectious personality that motivates and energizes teams and functional marketing units.
Sketching and drawing skills to effectively communicate ideas to internal stakeholders.
