Creative Director provides leadership and direction for all phases of creative development work from concept to completion. Designs and implements policies and standards that reinforce the organization's branding strategy and goals. Being a Creative Director promotes excellence in design thinking and a creative strategy for services, products and programs. Interprets stakeholder requirements to produce effective creative concepts and designs. Additionally, Creative Director recruits and develops a team of designers, copywriters, project managers and vendors. Develops creative briefs and design concepts to meet the business objectives of the organization. Studies current trends and technologies to adopt the most effective tools and techniques across all media. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Creative Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Creative Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     The Creative Director leads the vision and development of the Stanley Martin Homes brand. They are responsible for vision casting and execution along with managing and developing high-caliber talent and design across the organization. The individual will report to the Senior Vice President of Marketing and serve on the sales and marketing leadership team lending expertise and counsel.

    Responsibilities and Duties:
    • Develop and foster exceptional design by developing a collaborative and highly creative environment
    • Manage a team of designers to develop innovative and creative design solutions or the organization leveraging trends, new mediums and emerging technologies
    • Advance and own the SMH brand identity inclusive of voice, imagery, design and expression
    • Lead design direction, standards and reviews of all internal and external creative output including print, digital, OOH, collateral, video, product photography, signage etc
    • Lead the selection process, migration, management, and optimization of creative platform solutions such as a DAM, project management software/tool etc
    • Develop and maintain appropriate creative file organization and standards
    • Develop and provide team reporting on productivity, deliverables, turnaround times and workflow/process and ensure cost management
    • Be the ultimate SMH Brand ambassador, ensuring adherence and application of brand, identity and design guidelines
    • Hire, train and mentor creative talent and cultivate professional development
    • Develop corporate and senior leadership presentations and templates
    • Adhere to company safety standards and help promote a safe working environment
    • Adhere to and promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of Stanley Martin
    • Represent the company professionally in all internal and external interactions and communications
    • Complete all other duties as assigned by manager

    Position Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (preferably with a focus/major in Graphic Design, Communication Design and/or related field)
    • 15 years of design experience rooted in graphic design
    • 10 years leading a design team in a corporate and/or agency setting
    • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite is required, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro etc
    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, and leadership skills
    • Outstanding creative judgment and familiarity developing advertising creative in all forms of media
    • An ability to think critically, creatively and strategically
    • Excellent organizational, management and written/oral communication skills
    • The ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, perform under pressure and pay close attention to detail while staying focused on the big picture
    • This position is hybrid - four days a week in office
