    Job Objective:

    As the Music and Creative Arts Director for the Indiana Division you will ensure that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out by inspiring, equipping, and developing leaders, musicians, and others involved with creative arts.

    What You Will Do:

    • Work with corps officers and other leaders to develop and strengthen their local music and creative arts programming.
    • Visit each corps periodically (at least once per year) to maintain an up-to-date appraisal of music/creative arts activities within the division to obtain an overview of progress, to determine needed resources and support.
    • Identify, develop, and strengthen new, current, and potential leaders.
    • Create discipleship opportunities for participants in all programs and activities.
    • Plan and coordinate divisional creative arts events-including schools of music, camps, and leadership trainings.
    • Develop and oversee the effective implementation of divisional initiatives (regional music schools, divisional ensembles, etc.)
    • Maintain and organize inventory items related to equipment, supplies, memberships, and other resources used by the department.
    • Maintain office records, correspondence, and files; distribute creative arts related information sent by THQ, respond to correspondence within 24 hours.
    • Maintain timely, attractive, and efficient communication of news, opportunities, and events through a managed mailing list. Communication can be shared via email, letters, DHQ website, social media, and/or newsletters.
    • Attend divisional and territorial music/creative arts related activities; coordinate travel for student participation, facilitate worship band set-up, give support regarding AV as able.
    • Provide music and creative arts support for various events as requested by manager.
    • Develop partnerships with organizations like local universities, churches, professional groups, etc. as sources of support and volunteers.
    • Other tasks as assigned by leadership.

    Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

    Participation: Must embrace The Salvation Army's mission, be an active Salvationist in good standing, and attend a Salvation Army corps

    Education: BA Degree in Music Education or related creative arts field (significant musical management experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).

    Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed. Findings may disqualify an individual for this position

    Experience: Two years' experience in working with children and adults in the field of music and/or creative arts preferred. Proficiency in music leadership, personal musical, creative arts, and vocal instruction is required.

    Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.

    Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written abilities.
    • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.
    • Active Christian with a current testimony who upholds Christian standards and willing to support the mission of The Salvation Army.
    • Project management, excellent communication skills, well-organized, attention to detail, able to delegate.
    • High level of self-motivation but able to work in a team.
    • Maintain high levels of positivity and able to pivot (flexibility).

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    Will supervise youth, program participants, and volunteers.

    Physical Requirements Include:

    • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity

    Travel: Requires regular short-term travel within and outside the State of Indiana.

    Working Conditions:

    Work is performed normally in a typical office environment with a low to moderate noise level, or studio environment. Other environments include public spaces, worship centers, and outdoor camps. Full-time position; be able to workdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
