    The Operations and Advancement team oversees a strategic selection of campus enterprises and responsibilities, including Facilities Management and the campus physical plant and construction, Auxiliary Services, Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives, Alumni Relations, Marketing, Communications, and Community Relations, and the Denver-based Advancement team. This diverse portfolio allows our teams to imagine long-term partnerships; support a campus master planning initiative; establish new fundraising opportunities as long-term drivers for new and evolving academic and student experiences; develop meaningful relationship and pipelines with our alumni graduates; and message and share CSU Pueblo’s statewide engagement and impact to stakeholders in Denver and beyond.     Description of Job

    The Director of Creative and Brand Strategy is responsible for upholding the CSU Pueblo university brand guidelines, leading the artistic and design direction for all CSU Pueblo marketing and brand-related initiatives. This position oversees the planning, design, production, and printing of all external university publications. This position helps implement the university’s strategic effort to share the story of the institution with both internal and external stakeholders including employees, prospective and current students, and community members, by building and managing a creative services team that includes student staff and external agencies charged with developing imaginative and impactful collateral that meets enrollment, branding and other institutional needs. This position functions both as a team member and an independent consultant via management of estimating, coordination, content, budget, filming/design, timeline, editing, directing production, and delivery of video and creative projects. This position also manages, assigns, and tracks to completion, all creative intake requests, serves on university committees, and assists with university events as needed. This position is considered an on-call position and may require night and weekend work for special events.

    Primary Duties
    Creative Management


    • Manage creative intake requests received by MCCR, including assignment to MCCR staff, communication with campus stakeholders, and tracking of project to completion or termination.
    • Manage all creative projects, including photography, videography, and graphic design to maintain a high level of quality and customer service and to make sure projects are tracking to deadlines.
    • Serve as lead graphic designer for the university: create marketing materials for Admissions, academic departments, major events, logos, department identifiers, and programs as needed.
    • Design news website to house university announcements and news.
    • Update photos on university web pages regularly to reflect our current students, faculty, and campus facilities.
    • Work with campus constituents on office signage, directional signage, and office design projects to ensure branding and high guest experience standards are achieved.
    • Work with external vendors to provide feedback on campaign creative development, provide approvals on Admissions collateral designs and photography included in Admissions communications (emails via Slate, Capture, etc.). Manage relationship with marketing agency providing oversight of creative campaign.
    • Serve as lead graphic designer, photographer, and videographer on projects as needed.
    Brand Management
    • Manage the brand review submission process. Provide consultation regarding design assistance to campus partners and team members to ensure brand compliance.
    • Serve as subject matter expert regarding brand standards, guidelines, and processes, offering insights and advice to campus partners.
    • Lead and develop regular brand trainings across campus by developing training plans, modules, and conducting training sessions.
    • Monitor and track training process of brand ambassadors on campus while providing opportunities for improvement. Assess brand adoption through surveys, brand reviews, and other methods to ensure alignment with brad adoption goals and address any gaps or areas for improvement.
    • Maintain brand elements on the website utilizing a digital asset management system, ensure assets are current and information is available to campus constituents.
    • Maintain approved photo library through Flickr for use by campus constituents and media representatives.
    • Conduct regular assessments and analyze data regarding brand and brand recognition on campus. Assess student feedback regularly to ensure our brand is appealing and understandable by key audiences.
    Social Media Engagement Management
    • Research current social media trends to create timely and creative social media content.
    • Provide oversight to Social and Digital Content Creator to schedule content on social media channels regularly and work with Operations Coordinator to obtain data related to posts to make changes as necessary.
    • Lead storyboarding and production process for videos and reels.
    • Collaborate with staff writer on creating copy, captions, and scripts for videos and social content.
    • Create videos and reels to drive social media engagement.
    • In Crisis situations, monitor social media channels and mentions, correct misinformation, assist Public Information Officer with dissemination of correct information and updates.
    • Create and provide trainings on best social media practices in collaboration with Social and Digital Content Coordinator.
    • Enforce social media policy and monitor official university department accounts. Provide updates and recommendations to social media policy to general counsel as needed.
    • Serve as a backup for Rave Emergency Alert System and Emergency Notifications if PIO is unavailable.
    Manage and create content for university electronic signage. Including managing intakes and scheduling posts and videos.

    Represent MCCR (or Operations and Advancement) at university meetings, on committees, or in support of university operations or advancement.

    Ancillary Duties

    Salary Range
    $65,000-$75,000

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in communications, marketing, design, business, or related field
    • 5 years professional graphic design experience
    • 5 years professional experience working in a supervisory role in a creative field
    • Professional photography / videography experience
    • Experience with multiple camera brands (i.e. Nikon, Sony, Canon, Black Magic)
    • Digital portfolio demonstrating professional work:
      • Eye for creative design in digital, print, and place
      • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Lightroom, Photoshop, InDesign)
      • Familiar with basic editing software (Canva, Capcut)
    • Experience working in a flexible office environment in a generalist capacity
    • Experience with, or commitment to, working in a diverse workplace

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master’s degree in communications or related field.
    • Bilingual: English/Spanish.
    • Familiar with Google Analytics
    • Experience working in higher education setting or with marketing agency work
    • Experience with Final Cut Pro or other professional video editing software
    • Experience designing for special events (signage, programs, etc.)
    • Experience with Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite
