  • SUMMARY OBJECTIVE:

    Assist in the supervision and training of the Credit Analysis Department in an effective manner consistent with established policies and procedures. Administer assistance to lending officers of the bank by furnishing credit analysis and financial information evaluation services. Promote compliance with established credit policies and procedures while optimizing profitability.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Assist in the supervision and training of the Credit Analysis Department in an efficient and effective manner, specifically including the direct supervision of Credit Analyst team members. Recruit, train, coach and manage a staff that competently and cooperatively works with all areas of the institution.

    2. In support of the Lending Division, provide accurate, comprehensive, and timely credit analysis of all credit requests as required by policy to support loan production efforts of the Lending Division with appropriate balance of credit risk management and compliance with credit policies. Provide spreadsheet preparation services as requested by the Lending Division.

    3. Contribute to and participate in maintaining a consistent credit culture throughout the organization by promoting compliance with all credit policies and procedures, by providing support to the Lending Division in interpretation of policy and by providing assistance to the loan officers in evaluating appropriate loan structure relating to loan proposals and/or proposed loan modifications.

    4. Based upon parameters developed by the Chief Credit Officer, Chief Lending Officer, or other members of senior management, develop and provide reports to support the monitoring and evaluation of credit quality and credit risk within the loan portfolios.

    5. In support of the lending function, provide commercial appraisal review services to ensure compliance with FIRREA, regulatory requirements, and the real estate lending and investment posture of the institution. This duty requires consistent and careful monitoring of appraisal standards and regulatory parameters to ensure compliance with any subsequent amendments with follow through to ASRV policies and procedures.

    6. Serve on AmeriServ Financial Bank committees as follows: As member, attend and actively participate by sharing opinions and expertise as relevant and appropriate.

    7. Participate in preparation and management of annual budgets with attention to cost control and performance within or, when feasible, more favorable than budget parameters.

    8. Enhance and promote AmeriServ Financial Bank through participation in community organizations, activities, and projects.

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The employee is frequently required to: l) Type or otherwise work with fingers; 2) Talk expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers or clients accurately, loudly, or quickly; 3) Hearing — perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with/without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make the discriminations in sound. Operating a motor vehicle and the ability to adapt to environmental weather conditions, as seasons change.

    Sedentary work may require occasionally lifting of up to 25 pounds and/or move up to 30 pounds. This work involves sitting most of the time with walking, driving, and sitting.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include l) viewing a computer monitor; 2) extensive reading; 3) driving.

    No travel is required, except for possible (training and seminars)

    REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field with completion of accounting coursework through at least the intermediate level. Minimum of five (5) years of commercial banking experience in the credit analysis department of a bank or, in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, 8 years of commercial banking experience in the credit analysis department of a bank. Demonstrate working knowledge of regulatory risk guidelines.
