ABOUT THE ROLE:
Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, is responsible to prepare, analyze and assess credit quality of new and existing commercial loans. Provides operational and administrative support to the Commercial Loan Officers in the originating and underwriting of commercial loans. Maintains appropriate databases for accurate reporting and follow-ups. Tracks annual reviews and ensures appropriate documents are updated. Responds to questions and/or provides information upon request from members/customers (internal & external). Assists members and potential members in understanding & utilizing Credit Union products & services.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: (in descending order of importance)
- Develops credit information for use by Commercial/Business Banking Officers needed in making commercial lending decisions on new loan, as well as the renewal and extension of existing loans. Reviews all pertinent credit and financial information, including reporting services, credit bureaus, terror watch lists, savings and loan associations or banks, and bank files. Determines the need for more thorough investigation or additional information, and contacts appropriate sources for such information. Prepares spreadsheet and financial information. Analyzes financial statements and related material. Researches company history and industry data. Prepares summary analysis, presents facts, and offers opinions concerning credit worthiness to Commercial/Business Banking Officers.
- Tracks and follows up on loan proposals and gathers all information relevant for the consideration of a new, or increased, relationship with a prospect or member, including but not limited to analyzing financial statements, tax returns, business plans, etc. Assists commercial loan officers with completing loan packages and following up on outstanding items/ conditions. Prepares member business loan request forms, term sheets and commitment letters as required. Oversees document request letters for financial statements, insurance binders, etc.
- Utilizes tact and experienced-based knowledge to resolve customer/member (internal and external) problems, explaining specific policies and products while representing the Credit Union in a professional manner and maintaining positive customer relations.
- Performs other credit analysis, commercial loan support, member/customer relations and administrative related duties as assigned by VP/Sr. Commercial Credit Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
BA/BS in Business, Finance, Accounting, Marketing or related field required.
Experience/Skills/Knowledge:
- Minimum 5 years previous experience in a commercial lending/loan support function. Previous commercial credit training required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of commercial lending policies, procedures, regulations and legislation.
- Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must possess excellent organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills. Attention to detail a must.
- Ability to handle simultaneously, multiple tasks and changing priorities and produce the desired results.
- Must possess a strong service orientation and willingness to assist members.
- PC proficient, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the Internet.
- Ability to function in a financial institution branch environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: fax, copier, telephone, etc. Travel required.
