  • Position Overview
    Eastman Credit Union is seeking a Data Analyst  for our Project Management and Data Analytics Team. The Data Analyst will provide business insights through analysis of key data sets to improve ECU’s existing service offerings, identify new service opportunities, and support the development of superior member experiences.  The Data Analyst will also support the establishment and ongoing development of a Data Analytics function at ECU.

    Responsibilities include the following:

    - Perform ad-hoc analysis of key data sets to answer business questions, drive educated business decisions, and identify unmet needs of members and employees.
    - Conduct analytical studies to provide recommendations to management teams for departmental and enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
    - Perform analysis relating to operational functions, workflows, and other business-related issues.
    - Create and maintain business intelligence report deliverables, dashboards, and other delivery systems to allow on-demand monitoring of business goal statuses by various business areas.
    - Implement and maintain data consolidation and business intelligence technology solutions to facilitate data access, data management, and analytics practices across the organization.
    - Proactively collaborate with key business areas to identify opportunities for business value delivery through the application of Data Analytics.
    - Mentor and train departmental subject matter experts in their use of data and analytics to develop and sustain a culture of data-driven thinking across the organization.
    - Support the development of Data Governance capabilities within the organization.
    - Perform special assignments and serve on project teams as needed. 

    Required Skills:

    - Deep understanding of relational databases and database management systems.
    - Advanced knowledge of SQL and spreadsheet software for data collection and processing.
    - Ability to analyze statistics and reports to determine business performance and trends.
    - Advanced skill identifying and analyzing business requirements and recommending solutions.
    - Solid technical background and understanding of financial services industry.
    - Project Management skills with proven ability to deliver business value within outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
    - Quick learner with ability to understand complex system interdependencies.
    - Eagerness to continuously learn and improve professional skills.
    - Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate findings, conclusions, and alternatives clearly and concisely to all levels of the organization.
    - Ability to effectively prioritize demands from multiple projects.
    - Excellent attention to detail, time-management and analytical skills.

    Preferred Experience: 

    - Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
    - Experience with data visualization tools is preferred.
    - Experience in problem resolution including determining root cause and scope of issues.
    - Some experience with unstructured data and access methods is preferred.
    - Experience in the application of statistical methods, mathematical techniques, forecasting, cost-benefit analysis, and related analytical tools is preferred.
    - Previous experience with data warehousing or big data platforms a plus.
    - Previous experience with programming languages is preferred.
