The Erb Memorial Union (EMU) is a department of the Division of Student Life. The EMU is a multifaceted auxiliary service that employs over 80 professional staff and 300 student staff, and serves over 15 thousand daily users during the academic year. The EMU welcomes students, faculty, staff, the community and visitors to campus, and its mission is to provide learning experiences and
opportunities for personal growth in an open, inclusive, and resource-rich community where students and staff collaborate to inspire and sustain extraordinary programs and services that promote diversity and social interaction. The EMU is student-centered and is operated in collaboration with a student Board, who are actively involved in determining the character and scope of the department and approve the budget recommendations of all EMU services and programs.
The purpose of this position is to provide operational support to the ID Card Office in the EMU. The Operations Assistant offers customer service to students, faculty, staff, and the public by addressing policy and procedure inquiries both in person and via telephone and email, and by producing photo identification. This position works to schedule and coordinate operations with other university departments such as the offices of the Registrar, Admissions, EMU, Public Safety, Library, and Housing. The Operations Assistant is also responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating approximately 10 to 15 student employees.
This position also provides general office support for the department including organization and maintenance of filing systems, troubleshooting with campus printing centers and IT Services, and financial responsibilities including daily cash balancing, invoicing, tracking and auditing.
