  • Job Description: PRIMARY FUNCTION: Direct, plan and manage staff in the operation of the core banking system to ensure high availability to internal and external users/Members. Provide core banking system expertise to assist the organization in understanding system parameters, applications, and capabilities to optimize functionality in achieving organizational objectives. Direct and oversee vendor support of the mainframe environment JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Technical: · Manage the core banking system environment to ensure maximum availability to staff and members. · Provide leadership and guidance for projects and development integrating with the mainframe and/or core banking system. · Ensure core banking data integrity and operational stability by developing standards and controls and ensuring their compliance. · Collaborate with business peers to collect and document business requirements. · Provide organizational efficiencies through product set up, system refinement, reports and related disciplines. · Develop, maintain, and review core banking system business resumption procedures. Ensure adequate backup and recovery procedures are in place, tested, maintained, and documented. · Assist outside departments with interpretation of job control cards, system parameter options and program routines to maximize business efficiencies. · Provide core banking system representation on special project requests and initiatives. · Assist outside departments with issues/questions regarding the core banking systems. · Stay abreast of industry standards, technical trends and best practices. Make recommendations as appropriate. · Oversee the testing and installation of enhancements, releases, and patches; communicate implications to affected departments. · Proactively manage mainframe software and hardware issues and their resolution. · Collaborate with other departments to set up and test new products. · Comply with all published enterprise level policies and procedures including, but not limited to, Risk Management policies. · Complete all required, ongoing enterprise level training including, but not limited to BSA, OFAC, and Information Security. · Report all Risk Management Policy violations in accordance with policy. Management: · Supervise, coach, provide direction for core banking system personnel. · Maintain staff scheduling, adherence to policies and procedures, and staff development. Ensure new staff is properly trained. · Ensure core banking system policies and procedures are developed and properly maintained. · Mentor team members and facilitate their career progression/growth. · Coordinate with internal team leads/management and the management of other business units to assure the MOPS team is providing excellent service to the organization and VACU members. · Stay informed of vendor roadmaps, looking for efficiencies and/or cost savings that can be leveraged/achieved through new or improved products and/or services. · Assist in development and management of the IT budget · Other duties may be required and assigned by the supervisor. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge: · In-Depth knowledge of the Miser core banking system · In depth knowledge of retail banking products and services. Abilities: · Ability to function independently without direct supervision and use own judgment and initiative in problem resolution. · Ability to apply critical thinking techniques to solve complex issues. · Proven ability to collaborate with others, initiate action, and manage change. · Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously. Minimum Education and Experience: · Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field or appropriate combination of education and experience. · Experience leading operations teams in a 24x7 operational environment · Experience leading teams in a mainframe operations environment with attention to operational disciplines. · Experience escalating issues with vendor partners to ensure timely resolutions · Experience integrating heterogeneous systems, particularly with mainframe systems. · Experience gathering requirements and engaging the business as a partner in creating solutions. · Exceptional hands on analysis experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • This job requires the ability to sit for long periods of time. • This job requires infrequent lifting or carrying of objects up to 10 pounds.
