Summary
Reporting to the VP Finance, this full-time, exempt salaried role is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Card Services Team within the Finance Department, which includes Debit Card and Credit Card operations. The Card Services Manager is also responsible for the management of our partner vendors. The successful candidate leads by example to provide excellent customer service for other Credit Union departments and members.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
1. Leads Card Services team by providing direction, coaching, training, and ongoing development opportunities.
2. Supports the Card Services Team Lead by engaging in problem resolution and crisis management when assistance is needed.
3. Holds team members accountable for results, including required competencies, service behaviors, policies, and procedures. Responsible for ongoing evaluations in addition to annual performance evaluations and compensation changes.
4. Responsible for processes, procedures, disclosures, and training plans for the Card Services Department. Conducts periodic reviews of existing procedures to ensure they are current, compliant, and effective.
5. Communicates and collaborates with VP Finance to provide technical leadership, from strategic decision making to project planning and execution, to ensure products and processes are reviewed and align with service delivery objectives and goals.
6. Represents the Credit Union in meetings with vendor or business professionals associated with card processing, plastic production and rewards.
7. Reviews and manages card vendor inventory, billing, and expenses. Responsible for monitoring and ensuring proper inventory level of debit and credit card plastics both at central issuance and instant issue branch locations.
8. Manages the administration of the debit and credit card processing software, manages roles, user templates and product configurations. Collaborates with the technology department for maintenance, upgrades, system design, interface applications and security.
9. Prepares assigned reports for internal, Board, vendor, and regulatory reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
10. Monitors Fraud Trends (including merchants, transaction types, locations, etc.) and the ability to communicate these trends to members and staff. Takes action to mitigate losses.
11. Assists Accounting in balancing the card programs and rewards and identifying and researching all outstanding issues.
12. Works closely with training and team members to provide up-to-date product knowledge and system navigation.
13. Manages competing priorities on a day-to-day basis, including project management, providing service to other Credit Union departments, adheres to sensitive timelines.
14. Well versed in computer operations and systems such as Symitar, FIS, Evolve, Excel, QuickAssist, Member Connect and DataVue on a daily basis.
Qualifications and Certifications
• BS or BA degree in relevant field required.
• Five years of similar or related experience.
• Experience with credit and/or debit card operations within a financial institution is a plus.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Ability and willingness to learn new computer applications, technologies and procedures.
• Strong abilities with Microsoft Office suite.
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic with a willingness to support others within the Credit Union.
• Ability to act independently and make decisions.
