Credit Clerk evaluates and suggests creditworthiness of prospects and customers to decrease financial risk to the organization. Checks credit applications and grants approval within established guidelines for organizations or individuals. Being a Credit Clerk communicates with the customers and other departments to solve the credit problems. May negotiate terms of payment to assist with collection of overdue balances. Additionally, Credit Clerk requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Credit Clerk possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.     Job Title: Credit Collections/ AR Clerk

    General Purpose: Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts by E-mail, Telephone or mail; respond to basic customers’ inquiries.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Providing customer service regarding invoice issues, customer refunds, process and review account adjustments, resolve client discrepancies and short payments.
    • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts- Customer calls, account adjustments, customer reconciliations and processing credit memos.
    • Enlist the efforts of senior management when necessary to accelerate the collection process.
    • Must communicate & follow up effectively with senior management regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.
    • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with coworkers.
    • Daily, weekly and monthly reporting to direct supervisor.
    • Monthly delinquency reports for accounting.
    • Reconcile customer disputes as they pertain to payment of outstanding balances that are due.
    • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
    • Corporate Collections Experience.
    • Knowledge of Billing and Collections procedures.
    • Accounts Receivable knowledge/experience a plus
    • Strong attention to detail, goal oriented
    • Commitment to excellent customer service
    • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required; must be able to maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, outside agencies, vendors, and customers.
