Summary
The Credit Union Quality Assurance/BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) Clerk is responsible for ensuring the credit union's compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and other anti-money laundering regulations. Responsible for identifying, investigating, and reporting suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. Performs audits of operations, financial records, and internal control systems. Works on fraud tracking and prevention.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The selected candidate will file SARs (Suspicious Activity Reports) and CTRs (Currency Transaction Reports) with FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network) when necessary. Develop and maintain relationships with law enforcement and other regulatory agencies. Other BSA duties include OFAC reviews, CDD/EDD monitoring, reviews of BSA related reports, and working BSA/Fraud Alerts. Assist with ensuring that the credit union's BSA program is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Stay up to date with changes in BSA regulations and advise senior management on any necessary changes to the credit union's BSA program. Perform quality control reviews of daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Notify and recommend solutions of discrepancies for tasks/departments to your manager. Update fraud tracking, assist with fraud prevention and perform random and independent cash counts at all offices.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience One year to three years of similar or related experience.
Education (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal Skills Normal courtesy in dealing with others is required. Work involves minimal contact within the organization. Contact involves routine, non-sensitive issues. Member or vendor contact is limited to incidental contact.
Other Skills Solid knowledge in all areas of audit procedures and the ability to work independently. Must have a working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing software and all types of general office equipment.
Physical requirements Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time in a day (up to 9 hours), possess hand, wrist, and finger dexterity to use keyboard, phone, and calculator in a repetitive manor, and the ability to view a computer monitor throughout your scheduled time. Must have the ability to lift up to 25 lbs., bend over to a 90-degree angle and bend knees to attain a crouching position.
Availability Must be available to work from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. M-F and Sat. and work a flexible schedule. May be required to work at other branches and have the ability to travel to and from those branches.
