Position Title: Registrar's Office: Transfer Credit Specialist

Responsibilities:

The Transfer Credit Specialist is an unclassified position reporting to the Associate Registrar and will be responsible for processing, posting, and evaluating transfer credit for incoming and current students. This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments within the university.

In this role, the Transfer Credit Specialist will:

• Evaluate academic transcripts for transfer credit for incoming and current students.
• Ensure that transfer credit is quickly, accurately, and completely recorded in the student information system (Banner) to support advising and degree audit.
• Post transfer work to student records and verify appropriate course articulations in accordance with university transfer policies.
• Research transfer courses from other institutions using various online resources and work collaboratively with the appropriate college/department to determine an accurate course match for articulation.
• Maintain transfer equivalencies in the Transfer Evaluation System (TES) and student information system.
• Migrate historical UL Lafayette coursework information for re-entry students into the current student information system.
• Document processes related to transfer credit within the Registrar’s Office and assist in training staff on transfer credit procedures, requirements, and issues.
• Provide a high level of customer service using a thorough understanding of applicable academic regulations, policies, and procedures related to transfer credit and Registrar functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or related field.

-A minimum of five years of full-time experience performing duties described in this position may substitute for the degree requirement.

-Experience in a higher education setting

-Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills;

-Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail;

-Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities to manage deadlines;

-Problem-solving skills and use of independent judgement and discretion; and

-Ability to work as part of a team and independently as needed.  

The ideal candidate will need to develop a comprehensive knowledge of departmental and university policy and must have the ability to maintain the confidentiality of student records.
